EXAM

How to Use This Practice Test

This practice test assumes that the individual has obtained and read the material required for
the examination. The purpose of these study questions is to summarize and present a
challenge similar to that of an actual exam. Questions are presented in a multiple-choice
format and answers are given at the end.

It is critical to be able to navigate the material at a faster pace than is allowed during a timed
exam. Building code is full of difficult and complex concepts that cover all trades and
construction methods. Under a time constraint, the navigation of material to simply find the
references to these concepts is critical. It is a poor strategy to attempt to memorize
everything; rather, memorize concepts and the reference locations so that more complex
problems are not prone to memorization error.

This practice test is designed to build speed and reference locations for critical information in
the text(s). Ideal preparation is being able to find and answer the questions in half the time of
the actual given time during an examination. I.e. If the given amount of time per question will
be two minutes, the examinee should be able to find the reference in the material and answer
the questions correctly in one minute. Repeating this study guide several times to build the
pace required is essential.
