Planning for Learners Differentiation: Learning Environment: We will have two
separate rooms for our learners.
Product: Depending on the level each student is
at, one group may be working ahead in their math books, while
the other group focuses on some more smaller problems of
adding and subtracting decimals.
Modifications/Accommodations: For our learners that need a bit
more help, they will work on the basics with Ms. Coulter and I
in a pull-out session.
Lesson Presentation
Introduction - The lesson will start off with a review of the common
decimals and how we can get them.
- Use the decimals on the wall to review
- Put some decimals on the whiteboard for their Do Now!
- Examples: 3/5, 7/8, and 1 ½ turn them into decimals.

Sequence of Activities - The next thing we would do, would be to make their
decimal posters.
- Pass out all papers / Make sure they have colored pencils
- Upload a pre-written one using the doc cam
- Go through and fill in with them.
- Make sure the main teacher is going around and helping
them fill in when necessary
- Be able to co-operate with the teacher about multiple
ways to help the students with solving the problems.
- After this is over, go over a couple examples on the
board. (four examples) (page 114 in Math Book 5,6,7,8)

Lesson Wrap-up - Split into groups at the end (one group stays with Mrs.
Estright and the other goes with Ms. Coulter)
- Mrs. Estright will practice more problems with her
students who are grasping the information a bit more,
and Ms. C will take the students who are struggling a bit
more and practice turning the fractions into decimals and
then adding and subtracting at the end.
Self-Evaluation

Throughout the lesson, there will be

- One teach, one support
- Alternative Teaching
