Denchak, Melissa. “Global Climate Change: What You Need to Know.” NRDC, 20 Jan. 2021,

www.nrdc.org/stories/global-climate-change-what-you-need-know.

In the article “Global Climate Change: What You Need to Know,” author Melissa

Denchak offers a complete lesson on the topic of Global Climate Change. Denchak very

simply explains the causes and effects of this global problem and breaks the information

down small enough for the common person to understand. Many people find it hard to

stay interested when reading science based articles, but the author takes frequently asked

questions and answers each and every one of them with firm evidence behind each

answer. Climate change is a long term change in the average weather patterns that

characterize Earth’s regional and global climates, and can be seen in many different ways

besides intense heat, such as record breaking floods and violent storms. Not only does

the effects consist of change in weather, but climate change can also have a major impact

of agriculture, animal populations and movement, and rising oceans. Climate change has

been around since the beginning of time, but the human race has earned a new derivative

of this term, and its name is “anthropogenic climate change.” These two definitions

should not be mistaken for one another, for they mean two entirely different things.

Anthropogenic climate change is defined by the human impact on Earth’s

climate while natural climate change are the natural climate cycles that have been and

continue to occur throughout Earth's history.

The reason why this article is a chosen source, is as a result of its explicit

deliverance of information. Without going too far on the scientific spectrum, the author

simply explains and answers frequently asked questions of normal people. The reason

why this is important is because Global Climate Change is not just a problem for the

scientists, it is the entire human race’s. It is up to us to educate ourselves on this urgent

problem that is affecting life today and future generations. In order to educate one’s self,

there must be reliable sources that make it easier for those with no prior knowledge of

this global problem to learn understand the importance. Without sources like the one

listed above, less people would feel motivated to do their own research.
