The article that I am about to review is titled “What is climate change? A really simple guide”.

The article was published on BBC news website. It concerns the issue of the climate change, the
way it effects our planet, what we can do to prevent it.
First of all, climate change is the fact of increasing of average temperatures of our planet. The
article suggests that if nothing is done to stop or rather slow it, humanity will face drastic
changes, such as floodings of some regions, heatwaves, deserting of farming lands.
At the beginning of the article the author shares some facts on changes of our planet’s climate.
Apparently, there has been an increase of 1.2C of average temperature and the amount of CO2
has risen by 50% since 19th century. The author then goes on presenting different scenarios of
the climate change, the best one for us being a 1.5C increase by the end of the century and the
worst a 4C increase. Also, the article touches issues of consequences of the climate change
upon our plant. These include floodings, heatwaves, devastation of farmlands and extinction of
many animal species. Finally, the article presents actions taken by countries’ governments and
gives recommendations to individuals so that they will be able to contribute to the world’s
battle against the climate change.
The article is very well-written. It uses a broad range of cohesive devises, which makes it easy to
read. The author also included some pictures and charts that contributes to reader’s perception
of the information.
I personally found this article very informative. It can be of use to anyone seeking to
understand the main aspects, problems, and solutions to the climate change. Even though I was
familiar with the topic on the basic level, the article managed to convey everything I need to
know quite clearly.
All in all, the article can be recommended to anyone, who is poorly aware of the subject. The
climate change is a big problem, which can affect not only our children, but also ourselves.
Thereby, if actions are not taken now, every Earth’s citizen will be at a risk.
