avoid water stagnation and farmers are advised to repair the water channels, farm ponds and other
water bodies to harvest the rain water.

and store harvest crop in godowns or cover with tarpolin

Cyclonic Storm in the evening of 09th December 2022. It moved west-northwestwards
and weakened into a Cyclonic Storm and lay centered at 0830 hours IST of today, the
GENERAL 09th December, 2022 over Southwest Bay of Bengal off north Tamil Nadu & Puducherry
ADVICE coasts near latitude 11.1°N and longitude 81.5°E, about 280 km north of Trincomalee (Sri
Lanka), 230 km northeast of Jaffna (Sri Lanka), 180 km east-northeast of Karaikal and
about 260 km south- southeast of Chennai. It is very likely to move nearly
northwestwards and cross north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and adjoining south Andhra
Pradesh coasts between Puducherry and Sriharikota around Mamallapuram
(Mahabalipuram) as a Cyclonic Storm with a maximum
sustained wind speed of 65-75 kmph gusting to 85 kmph during midnight of today, the
09th December to early hours of tomorrow, the 10th December.

Coimbatore
Agro Advisory
Rice Vegetative Because of low temperature and high relative humidity, infection from bacterial
Flowering leaf blight is expected in rice crop. To control spray, Streptomycin sulphate +
Tetracycline combination 300 g + Copper oxychloride 1250 g/ha. If necessary
repeat 15 days later.
Prevailing weather condition is favourable for false smut attack in rice. To
control 1 ml propiconozole or 1ml hexaconozole or copper oxychloride 2.5 g/lit
or copper hydroxide 2.5 g/ lit. If required repeat the spray at 15 days interval.
For samba transplanted paddy, Zn SO4 @ 0.5% and urea @1% during flowering
stage and 2% DAP and 1% Kcl for after flowering crop may be sprayed during
rain free period.
Considering the cool weather preparation of paddy nursery may be initiated for
Navarai season.
Cotton Harvest Since rainfall is expected the cotton kapas may be picked up during non rainy
hours, shaded dried and stored immediately.
Banana Garden land banana may be planted by utilizing the rainfall.
wind speed of 6 – 20 km/hr with rainfall is expected. Hence, propping may be
done in five months old and above banana and sugarcane.
Turmeric Vegetative In irrigated turmeric, considering the high relative humidity, low minimum
temperature and high wind speed, epidemic on leaf spot disease may occur.
Spray carbendazim (1g/1lit of water) or 2g of Mancozeb per liter of water.
Grapes Prevailing low temperature is favourable for powdery mildew incidence in
grapes therefore farmers are requested to monitor the crop carefully spray 0.3
% wettable sulphur or dust sulphur 6 to 12 kg/ ha in the morning hrs.
Present weather is favourable for downy mildew incidence in grapes. Monitor
and spray 1% Bordeaux mixture or any other copper fungicide at 0.25%.
Animal High wind speed with moderate rainfall is expected. Hence, keeping animals in
nearby electric post or trees may be avoided.
Both maximum and minimum temperature are low and hence cold weather is
anticipated. Protect animal from cold weather by hanging gunny bag around
the animal and poultry shed. Feed the dairy animals and poultry with high
calorie feeds.
Prevent animal from drinking of stagnated rainwater against food
contamination. Provide clean and good drinking water to animals.
Present weather is conducive for Anthrax disease in animals, hence vaccination
may be done at near by animal husbandry hospitals.

for better contact with foliage.

Due to heavy and moderate rainfall for the next five days, proper drainage facilities have to be provided
in the vegetable growing fields.

Southwest Bay of Bengal, near latitude 9.5°N and longitude 83.8°E, about 300 km east-
northeast of Trincomalee (Sri Lanka), 420 km east-southeast of Jaffna (Sri Lanka), 460 km
east- southeast of Karaikal and about 550 km southeast of Chennai.
Farmers are advised to prune the fruit trees for free aeration to prevent lodging. Wind

ADVICE leaves from the crowne of the coconut tree to with stand heigh wind speed. Place the

Bengal off north Tamil Nadu & Puducherry coasts near latitude 11.1°N and longitude 81.5°E, about 280
km north of Trincomalee (Sri Lanka), 230 km northeast of Jaffna (Sri Lanka), 180 km eastnortheast of
Karaikal and about 260 km southsoutheast of Chennai. It is very likely to move nearly northwestwards
