Undergraduate and Graduate Research Opportunities

The Integrative Personalized Medicine Laboratory at Stanford (http://pimed.stanford.edu) has multiple

openings for highly motivated undergraduate and graduate students with an interest in developing
algorithmic approaches to assess disease presence, progression and treatment response in clinical
applications. These opportunities are available either as short term internships (3-6 months) or long-term
research projects (1+ years) within our dynamic multidisciplinary team.
Our laboratory focuses on identifying radiologic signatures of pathologic conditions and events via multi-
modal medical data fusion, such as radiology-pathology integration, radiogenomics, and advanced
machine learning. We seek to characterize pathologic processes and assess their appearance on
radiologic images, with the help of information available from genomics, proteomics or pathology. The lab
focuses on investigating critically relevant problems to study various cancers and non-oncologic diseases.
Required Qualifications:
▪ Candidates must already be part of a STEM undergraduate or graduate program
▪ Candidates must have an interest in image processing techniques and machine learning methods
applied to solve clinical problems.
▪ Candidates should be familiar with programming languages, e.g. C++/python, and/or toolkits, e.g. ITK,
opencv, sklearn
▪ Candidates should be dedicated, self-motivated and have attention to details. Collaborative team spirit,
strong communication skills, positive attitude and adherence to highest ethical principles are
necessary.
