    SECTION 1 - WRITTEN SITUATIONS - 10 MARKS

    Write what you would say in the following situations in SPANISH.

    1. You are in a Spanish-speaking country and want to know where the mall
    is. What do you ask?
    ANSWER: Puedes decirme do’nde esta el centro comerical?
    2. Tell someone your house is five kilometres from your school.
    ANSWER: Mi casa esta a cinco kilometres de la escuela.
    3. Your friend in class wants to know how you travel to school every day.
    What does he/she ask?
    ANSWER: Como viajas a la escuela todos los dias?
    4. Your teacher wants to know what country you would like to visit and
    why? What do you say to him/her?
    ANSWER: Me encantaria viajar a Santa Lucia porque tienen hermosas playas y
    comidas sabrosas.
    5. You are at the travel agency and want to book a ticket to Lima, Peru.
    What do you say to the travel agent?
    ANSWER: Me gustaria reservar un boleto para viajar a Lima, Peru.

    Read the letter María wrote to Cristina carefully and answer the questions that
    follow in complete sentences in ENGLISH.

    Querida Cristina,
    ¿Qué tal? Oye chica! La semana que viene comienzan las vacaciones y
    voy con mi familia a Barbados. Vamos a pasar una semana allí. ¡Qué maravilla!
    Vamos en barco porque a mi mamá no le gusta el avión. Salimos de viaje el
    dieciséis de abril. Vamos a casa de mis tíos que viven cerca del aeropuerto.
    ¿Adónde vas durante las vacaciones?

    ANSWER: No me gusta viajar en autobus porque hay muchas personas alli.
    2. ¿Dónde está tu colegio?
    ANSWER: Mi escuela esta en El dorado.
    3. ¿Adónde vas durante las vacaciones?
    ANSWER: Voy a Arima de Vacaciones.
    4. ¿Cuáles son los sitios de interés en tu barrio (neighbourhood)?
    ANSWER: Los lugares de interes de mi barrio son el parque y la tienda.
    5. ¿Prefieres ir de vacaciones con tu familia o con los amigos?
    ANSWER: Prefiero irme de vacaciones con mi familia.
