Preface
• Nickel demand is underpinned by rising
stainless steel production with China as
the main driver
– Why does nickel continue to be in
great demand? The simple answer is
that nickel has better corrosion
resistance, better toughness and
better strength at high and low
temperatures than other metals, as
well as a range of special magnetic
and electronic properties.
– Most nickel is combined with other
metals to form different alloys that are
used in over 300,000 products for
consumer, industrial, military,
transport, aerospace, marine and
architectural applications
Introduction
PT. TIGA SAMUDERA PERKASA (TSP) has 3 blocks

of IUP Nickel and other mineral associations, consists

of block TSP-1 (3,000 Ha), TSP-3 (10,000 ha) and

TSP-4 (10,000 ha) with a total area is 23,000 ha. All

third locations are located on ultramafic outcrops

single largest with an area of 120x60 km (by waheed,

2005) so it has great potential for Ni.

Exploration Activity :
Regional Geological Mapping
• Regional geological mapping carried out in blocks of TSP 1 Takes term
on October 22t – November 28, 2012. Based on this activity known
morphology investigation area has hilly ridges that have a Relatively
steep medium slope, the altitude of 250 meters up to 850 meters
above sea level.
• Lithology investigation area include ultramafic and sedimentary. the
investigation area has a distribution with the description Soft laterite
laterite Characterized by: sorrel, on the surface there are pisolitic iron,
decaying perfect origin and nature of the rocks (ultramafic) has not
looked at all.
Laterite Distribution Map
Exploration Activity :
Tespit Sampling
Other exploration activities conducted on block 1 is a sample hole. Determination of the point of
the test pit is based on the results of the mapping field collection of data at the point of laterite /
Lateritic area that has a pretty good progress, so that the data retrieval can be Carried out to the
fullest in order to Determine the pattern of development of nickel laterite vertical views of the
quality levels of nickel and a representative of each zone although it is still a regional outlook.

Test pits were performed on blocks 1 with total amount of test pit that has been done was 5 holes.

Hypothetical Resources
Hypothetical quantity and quality of resources based on estimates
obtained in the survey stage review, this resource is the result of
the initial phase of an exploration of an inquiry activity to give
picture economically mineable resources and determination to
produce a follow-up activity measured reserves.
Cut of Grade (COG)
 Cut-off grade is the lowest grade of mineral deposite that still provide benefits when mined. Cut-off
grade will determine the boundaries or size of the reserve, as well as determining whether or not to
do the mixing / blending. In the determination of nickel ore processing COG adapted to nickel
processing technology, the specified grade are:

 Low Grade for the content of 0.6-0.8% Ni 45-50% Fe Mg <0.5-5% is processed into NPI@1.2 - 6%
with product SS 200

 Medium Grade for the content of 1.3-1.7% Ni Fe Mg 5-15% 25-40% is processed into the NPI /
FeNi @ 12% with product SS 300

 High Grade for levels> 1.8% Fe 10-25% 10-35% Mg processed into FeNi / Ni Matte @ 12-25% with
300 SS products

Resources Calculating Methode
 The method used is influence area in
which local distribution range of drill
holes, if the spaces 200 meters then the
influence of the other drill point is 100
meters.

 Resource calculation method based on

drill data with calculated area of
influence within the existing boundaries,
Sampling pattern of square = side x side.

DISCUSS
• Based on data from the initial exploration PT. Tiga Samudera Perkasa has a hypothetical resource
534.472.282 WMT for low grade, 103.450.173 WMT for mid-grade and 116.673.591 WMT of high grade of
all Block IUP. Drilling information point just only 85 Ha from total coverage area 23.000 Ha, it gives the
possibility of adding a lot of resource and reserve calculations.

• Hypothetical Resources of other economic mineral in the block TSP is Fe with cog > 47% & Cr > 3%, based
on recapitulation of calculating resources from all block TSP, Total Fe > 47% is 5.647.750 WMT and total Cr
> 3% is 25.200.000 WMT.

• Pig iron nickel, ferronickel and nickel matte is a nickel product which has undergone a series nickel
processing of raw materials with a particular COG classification. This gives rise to several value of the
economy, based on data from infomine.com in August of 2013 selling price NPI, ferronickel and nickel
matte high versus the value of selling raw materials. This provides investment optimism of nickel to the
sale value.
