From the time of the ancient civilization like the Greeks and the Romans all the way to the modern times, art has been used to communicate ideologies and beliefs system prevalent with their context. 2. Modern and Contemporary Art - Modern art came before contemporary art. Most art Historians and critics put the beginning of modern art in the West at around the 1860’s, continuing up to the 1960’s. Whereas, contemporary art means made in the present day.
