IATA TRAFFIC CONFERENCE AREAS

IATA has found it convenient to divide the world into three Traffic Conference Areas so as to take account of
different economic, social and business conditions and practices in the various parts of the world. These areas
are known as TC1, TC2 and TC3 and comprise the following territories:

IATA Area 1 or TC 1
comprises of North America, South America, Central America and the adjacent islands like Greenland, Bermuda, West
Indies, Islands of the Caribbean Sea, Hawaiian Islands which includes Midway and Palmyra.

IATA Area 2 or TC2

comprises of Europe, Africa and Ascension Island and parts of Asia west of Ural Mountains including Iran and
countries of Middle East.
1. Europe
2. Africa
3. Middle East

IATA Area 3 or TC3

comprises all of Asia (East of the Urals and east of Iran), Oceania, (Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific Islands)
1. Asia
2. East Indies
3. Australia and New Zealand
4. South Pacific islands

IATA Traffic Conference Area 1 is sometimes referred to as the Western Hemisphere, whereas the Areas 2 and 3
together constitute the Eastern Hemisphere.

IATA Conference areas are further divided into small sub areas or regions:
TC1
-North Atlantic ( Canada, Greenland, USA and Mexico ).
-Mid Atlantic (Central America, South AmericaIncluding The Caribbean Islands )
-South Atlantic (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay & Uruguay.)

TC2
Europe
Africa
Middle East

TC3
Asia (South Asian sub continent & South East Asia )
South West Pacific islands (Australasia )

Note
The IATA terms have a meaning slightly different from the normal geographical definitions.
The IATA sub area Europe, not only comprises the geographical Europe but also includes:
