NATIONAL NEWS
1. 7th ASEAN-India Ministerial Meeting (AIMMAF) on Agriculture and Forestry was held
virtually.
• Co-chairs – Agriculture Ministers from India (Narendra Singh Tomar), Brunei Darussalam,
Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and
Vietnam
• The Medium-Term Action Plan of ASEAN-India Cooperation (2021-2025) was reviewed.

2. The two-day Chintan Shivir (reflection camp) of the home ministers of states will be held at
Surajkund in Haryana from 27th & 28th October, 2022.

3. Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has granted Goa’s Mopa airport the
aerodrome license to enable it to commence flight operations.

STATE NEWS
1. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has launched a common credit portal named ‘SAFAL'
(Simplified Application for Agricultural Loans) for the welfare of farmers.
• The facility will enable farmers and Agri-entrepreneurs to access more than 300 term loan
products of over 40 banks.

AGRICULTURE AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT


1. Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has released the 3rd Advance Estimates of
the area and production of various horticultural crops for the year 2021-22.
• The total horticulture production is estimated to be 342.33 million tonnes in the year
2021-22, showing an increase of about 7.73 million tonnes (an increase of 2.3%) over the
year 2020-21 (final).

• Total fruit production in 2020-21 - 107.24 million tonnes


• Total vegetable production in 2020-21 - 204.84 million tonnes

DEFENCE NEWS
1. Indian and the US militaries will conduct the "Yudh Abhyas" exercise at Auli in
Uttarakhand, just 100 km from the Line of Actual Control (LAC), between November 15 and
December 2.

INTERNATIONAL NEWS
1. 7th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment
Bank (AIIB) was hosted virtually on the theme of “Sustainable Infrastructure Toward a
Connected World”.
• Union Minister of Finance & Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman gave her opinions
on the Roundtable Discussion on the theme “Financing Infrastructure in a Crisis-Prone
World”.

2. The second edition of G20 Health Ministers Meeting was held in Bali, Indonesia.

1. International Energy Agency (IEA) has released its World Energy Outlook 2022.
• In this decade, the energy demand is likely to rise 3% annually due to urbanisation and
industrialisation.

• Renewable energy meets more than 60% of the growth in demand for power and accounts
for 35% of the electricity mix by 2030 -- solar PV alone accounts for more than 15%.

2. United Nations Environment Programme has released the “Emissions Gap Report 2022:
The Closing Window”.
• At 2.4 tCO2e (tonne carbon dioxide equivalent), India’s per capita greenhouse gas
emissions were far below the world average of 6.3 tCO2e in 2020.

3. Stanford University Rankings 2022 has been released. Around 50 experts from Pune have
featured in the list containing top 2% scientists around the world.
• Dr Thanu Padmanabhan, the late theoretical physicist from Inter-University Centre for
Astronomy and Astrophysics, has earned the top rank in India.
• Dr Sundeep Salvi, director of Pulmocare Research and Education (PURE) Foundation, is
ranked 50th.

BANKING AND ECONOMY


1. The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has launched Bima
Sugam—an online portal that will house all companies selling life and non-life insurance on a
single platform.
• The portal is scheduled to go live from 1 January 2023.

2. Indian Bank has launched several digital initiatives under “Project WAVE” (World of Advance
Virtual Experience) to enhance the customer experience through integrated services on its
digital platform.
• Indian Bank has tied-up with Universal Sompo General Insurance for providing online
two- and four-wheeler and health insurance through its mobile banking app IndOASIS.
• Indian Bank has partnered with Rupeek Capital Pvt Ltd, an asset-backed digital lending
fintech platform, to offer jewel loans at customers’ doorsteps under the co-lending
arrangement.

3. According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry’s data, Russia has become India’s 7th
largest trading partner from its 25th position last year.

4. PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Greenstat Hydrogen India have tied up for
setting up a Centre of Excellence for Green Hydrogen in New Delhi.
• The centre will provide training and workshops to promote green hydrogen and green
ammonia.

5. India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) operating under the Department of Posts has launched a
Group Accident Insurance Plan with an accidental death coverage of Rs 10 lakh.
• The India Post in partnership with TATA AIG and Bajaj Allianz General Insurance
companies will offer the insurance plan at a premium of Rs 399 or Rs 396 per annum.
• The insurance plan will offer around 10 major benefits for the applicant including permanent
total or permanent partial disability coverage of Rs 10 lakh, an option to cover accidental
medical expenses up to Rs 60,000 and transportation benefits for the family members
travelling to see the accident victim.

• The bank has also extended the e-OD (Overdraft) facility against Term Deposits opened
at branches by individual customers which were previously offered for e-deposits only.

1. IIT-Madras has won the National Intellectual Property Award for 2021 and 2022 from the
Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce and
Industry.
