Gas Law Problems

Instruction: Answer the following problems in short white bond paper. Solution must be provided in
handwriting. Do not forget to “BOX” your final answers.

1. The volume of a gas is 350 mL at 720 torr and 25°C. if the pressure is held constant and the
temperature is raised to 100°C, what will be its new volume?
2. a 3.5 L balloon has a pressure of 1.0 atm at sea level, where the temperature is 28°C. the balloon
was let loose and ascended to a height in the atmosphere where the temperature is 11°C. What
will be the volume of the balloon if the atmospheric pressure at the new altitude is 0.65 atm?
3. A 14.0 L tank contains 250g of methane (CH 4) gas at 27 atm at 298K. accidentally, 290 g of CO 2
was added to the tank. What will be the resulting pressure of the mixture in the tank? Assume
that no CH4 leaked out as the CO2 gas was being added.
