PODANUR JUNCTION

It is known fact that PODANUR Jn,. built in 1862 has a very illustrious history of being an older railway station than
Chennai central itself and has been a major Junction and a gateway to Kerala & South Tamilnadu for more than 150 yrs.
With such history and qualification to meet even the UNESCO standards for heritage structure, it is natural for any
station to be designed for great future, but that has not been in the case of PODANUR.

Over the years, it has fallen from grace and stature as the Junction without any tangible development. Decade old
pending establishment of Coaching Depot with PIT-LINES and STABBLING LINES are to be implemented at once.
Keeping the important point that once this Junction was a Divisional Headquarters and so making it as a model
SATELLITE STATION like Gujarat's Gandhinagar, is fully viable and abundant area of lands owned by Railways
makes it a realistic one. It is therefore requested that PODANUR Jn,. be strongly considered to act as a backup for the
burgeoning Industrial city of COIMBATORE.

This office of Authority may forward suitable suggestions to IRTTC so that all day time trains passing through
PODANUR Jn,. invariably stops there because of connecting road transport means available to all surrounding areas.
Please note that a integrated MEGA BUS PORT of COIMBATORE City is coming up with in 2 km from PODANUR
Jn,.

So Glorious image of PODANUR Jn,. in the History of IR is to be maintained at all costs.
