NEUROFEST'22
NEUROFEST HOLDS THE TITLE OF BEING INDIA'S FIRST
MEDICAL STUDENTS' NEUROSCIENCE CONGRESS.
It is a masterful blend of interactive workshops and unique events that inspire students
to look beyond books and expose them to real life patient scenarios thus not only
advancing the evidence based aspect of medicine but also including a component of
empathy and ethics in it.
Discussion on novel topics with eminent neurosurgeons, neurologists and psychiatrists
serve to connect medical students to some of the best and most successful minds in the
medical profession, and also push them to think out of the box thus resulting in holistic
development of our future doctors!
Established on 27th December 1974, the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences
(NIMHANS) is a multidisciplinary institute which amalgamates research and training with promotive,
preventive and curative aspects of clinical services in Mental Health and Neurosciences, since its
inception.
NIMHANS is synonymous with providing high standards of clinical care, quality training and cutting-
edge research in the frontier areas. Combined priorities for comprehensive patient care, manpower
development and research, stem from the commitment to an integrated and multidisciplinary
approach which addresses societal needs. The advances in genomics, computational neuroscience,

STROKE
Globally, over 1 00 million people are affected by Stroke leaving them functionally
disabled for the vast majority of their lives. It is the leading cause of disability and
second leading cause of death Worldwide. Its burden is only increasing year-on-year,
particularly in the low and middle countries where the care facilities providing
intervention are destitute, leaving us concerned. Devices and apps that assist stroke
patients in their recovery is the need of the hour. We need to come up with products
that diagnose, prevent and manage stroke in the remotest of the places with
minimum resources and most importantly, cost effectively.
GLOBAL NEUROSURGERY
Neurological diseases make up an important part of the global burden of diseases.
Worldwide, neurological disorders are the leading cause of disability adjusted life years
lost and the second leading cause of death. Despite global health capacity building efforts,
each year, 22.6 million individuals worldwide require neurosurgeon’s care due to diseases
such as traumatic brain injury and hydrocephalus, and 13.8 million of these individuals
require surgery. It is clear that neurosurgical care is indispensable in both national and
international public health discussions. Global Neurosurgery aims to close on this gap
between public health and state of-the-art neurosurgical care. We can achieve this through
innovative solutions that can bring neurosurgical intervention close to the middle- and low-
income groups.
