Similar concepts can be connected by using linking words. Call this the “addition” for now.
“And” is a fairly straightforward example. ‘Furthermore,’ ‘in addition,’ ‘also,’ or
moreover are also acceptable words. Linking words like “because,” “due to,” “in order to,”
or “so that” can be used to indicate a reason or purpose for anything. To link a cause and
effect, you can use connecting verbs like “hence,” “so,” “consequently,” or “as a
consequence.” Although there are others, this is a nice place to start. Keep in mind the
following four purposes: contrast, addition, reason or purpose, and cause-and-effect.
