Fantasy World - Verdant World

In the glacial and snow bound North resides the Mouran, an advanced race of anthropomorphic
Moose like beings. They are honourable, technologically advanced but unable to dominate the
planet as they can not endure too much warmth. They have driven human settlers southwards and
protect their secrets at the pole.

To the East lies a vast grassland that is dominated by the vicious clans of half orc centaurs, they
have fast moving scouts, heavy calvary and orc foot soldiers to dominate their domain. They do not
seek to expand, content to merely enjoy their region’s beauty, fauna and flora. On occasion they will
launch a raid into the human domain to steal bounty, workers and feast on the flesh of humans
which they find to be a delicacy. They call themselves the Eiqorla (the people of the sea of grass),
humans call them Blackheart raiders.

To the South is a sprawling land of mixed terrain, including; deserts, swamps, rivers and dense
jungle. It is dominated by a few species; in the hot and moist jungles are the lizardmen, in wetter
regions the toad like humanoids rule and in the dry deserts and deep caves are found the dragonkin.
It has vast lost cities, dangerous fauna and flora but is rich in exotic goods. It is frequently explored
by the adventurous types, for much ancient lore and powerful magical devices can be found here,
along with vast hoards acquired from the multitudes of past civilisations.

To the West lies the domain of mankind, split into a multitude of petty warrior barons who vie to
seize the right to call themselves King or Emperor. They are roughly equivalent to Dark Age
Europe, consisting of spear and shield bearing chain-mail clad warriors who seek fame and glory
above all else.

An Adventure – The Hero Kannan and the Sword of the West

A local Baron demands that the PCs seek out an ancient sword, one that belonged to the Hero
Kannan. The players must find out more information about this mythical hero, locate a lost ‘barrow
down’ in which he was buried, travel to the location of the tomb, bypassing bandits on the trail as
well as once at the barrow avoid any traps and undead guardians to reach the inner sanctum, recover
the sword and return to the Baron.
Potential Complications- another adventuring party seek the tomb, Kannan is not dead but can not
leave the tomb, the sword is located elsewhere but the clue is at the lost tomb, the sword ‘finds’
trouble, the PC’s learn that the Baron plans to betray them after they return the sword, the sword is
sentient and demands the PCs fulfil a quest or it will kill them all.

Sci Fi Space Sector - Verdant Arm

In the Verdant Arm there is a vast array of stars buried in the swirling nebula of the Death Head
nebulae. Various planetary systems within are controlled by the alien Kystela species, a large
crustacean like humanoid with two legs and four arms; they have six eyes, with two being insect
like, two seeing in infrared and a pair of human like green eyes for binocular vision. They tolerate
the presence of humanity on the fringes of their domain but react with extreme hostility to any
incursion into their ‘holy lands’. It is a region that is also home to raiding pirate gangs, criminal
production factory worlds and lies at the edge of civilisation, with a few colonies of brave human
explorers who seek the riches of the region. The humans have been joined by the Savanal species, a
short and sturdy race of slow moving amoeba like aliens. They are technically advanced, dislike
killing but are also extremely greedy for business profits. They are keen to exploit the riches to be
found in the area and have frequently clashed with the resident Kystela civilisation. One of the main
draws to the region is the rich mineral deposits, in particular the crystals that grow on various
planetoids and are used in weapons and computers. The vast gas clouds are also useful for fuel,
medicine, computer part cooling and also for conversion into illicit narcotic drugs. On the richer
worlds are exotic plants, creatures and food stuffs that are worth a small fortune in the markets of
the wider galaxy. A wild west like region, with the law barely enforced, huge profits or death awaits
those who seek to improve themselves on the frontier of the Known Universe.

An Adventure – The Holy Rocks, a crystal mine and profits

The players pick up a tip that on the edge of Kystela controlled space is a lost colony which sits on
top of a vast crystal mine. Around two years ago a small prospecting company stumbled across the
site and sent a party of miners to get in, mine the site and get out with billions of mega-credits of
crystals. The area is unstable and is bombarded by space weather every two weeks or so, making it
hazardous to travel in or out when the storm is raging. The prospecting company collapsed and its
assets have been sold off at auction, it just so happens that on a data wafer the players acquire they
find the secret of the crystal stash. The only two people who knew about it are either dead or went
to the colony. There has been no news from that region of space and in the past week it has emerged
from a dangerous meteor and ray storm. Space weather shows that the PCs have about one week to
get and out before the storm returns.

Potential Complications- The storm comes early, the Kystela decide to visit their holy site, the
prospectors are still alive and desperate to escape, the planetoid is inhabited by a dangerous species,
the crystals are explosive, another firm has managed to find out about the site and sends its own
party to exploit it, drug smugglers happen to be travelling in the region and follow the players, its a
honey trap leaked by pirate raiders who seek fresh slaves
