INTRODUCTION
HOOK TOPIC: Laziness is the main cause of obesity
TECHNIQUE
Facts& Statistics Malaysia has recently recorded one of the highest rates of child
obesity in the Southeast Asia. If you look around us, quite a large
number of children have a very high BMI index, which is a good
indication of high obesity rates in this country. If not addressed,
the nation as a whole will face many medical issues in the coming
future.
Narrative A pair of identical twins were raised under different conditions.
He stayed with his parents in the city mostly stay indoors and
living on takeaway food, like chicken rice and pizza. Meanwhile,
Ali lived in the village with his grandparents and mostly ate fresh
food and lead an active lifestyle. It comes as no surprise that the
former is obese while the latter is not.
PPPJJ
INTRODUCTION
HOOK TOPIC: Laziness is the main cause of obesity
TECHNIQUE
Questions What is the main cause of obesity? Is a sedentary lifestyle due to
innate laziness? The root cause of this issue? Is obesity a result of
a lifestyle choice or a genetic defect that is beyond our control?
These are some of the questions that pop to mind when we focus
on the topic of obesity and its main course

Examples Maggie, fried chicken, pizza loaded with mozzarella cheese.

These are examples of fast food readily available these days
which have given rise to obesity. However, is food intake really
the culprit? Could the very fact that humans are getting lazier
and lazier be the main cause of weight gain and obesity?

PPPJJ
INTRODUCTION
HOOK TOPIC: Laziness is the main cause of obesity
TECHNIQUE
Quotes/ Proverbs The popular saying reads, “Some people eat to live while some
live to eat.”. There is truism in this concept as many people eat
just enough to live well while many others make a mission of
consuming countless calories and indulging on the most delicious
and decadent of dishes; truly living their life to the fullest. What
we eat is not the only factor leading to rising obesity levels, in
fact, a sedentary lifestyle where people are getting lazy to live an
active life is perhaps the main cause of this health dilemma.
Imagination What if the majority of humans on this earth were categorised as
obese? Would the hospitals be over-brimming with obesity
related health emergencies? Imagine if all children were grossly
overweight, should we be pointing fingers at them and their
PPPJJ unhealthy lifestyles or do we blame the parents? Laziness across
the board, from young to old is the main culprit for the rise of
obesity.
INTRODUCTION

STAND TOPIC: Laziness is the main cause of obesity

Agree In my estimation, I undisputedly agree that laziness is indeed
the main cause of obesity in today’s modern era.

Disagree In my opinion, I utterly disagree that the main cause of obesity

is laziness because there are other factors that take precedence
over this issue.

Which are the thesis statements?

In recent years many people have become increasingly aware of the need
for physical fitness. Almost everywhere people turn, whether it is to a

Although much of this advice is commercially motivated by those eager to
sell vitamins and natural foods, some of it, especially that which advocates
a regular exercise program, merits serious attention. Regular exercise
releases tension, improves appearance, and increases stamina.

SUPPORTING DETAILS

Identify supporting details in this paragraph.

First and foremost, laziness is the main cause of obesity because people
gain a lot of weight when they live a sedentary lifestyle. This is because
when we live a sedentary lifestyle, we will not be spending our energy
doing physical activities such as walking, running or carrying things.
Moreover, where we do not use the calories that we consumed especially
in large quantities, then this unused energy will be stored as fat and cause
high obesity rates among people who life a sedentary lifestyle. Take for
example, most young people have poor sleeping habits, wake up late and
spend most of their time on their gadgets like smartphones and laptops
rather than go outside and take a jog or play some physically challenging
