Part B Question 1: The projected impacts of population growth measures on economic growth are not

strong, ranging from positive to negative to insignificantly different from zero, according to a
well known stylised fact of this field. Using meta-regression analysis, the current work examines 471
statistical regressions from 29 well-known economic development studies to determine the impact of
diverse approaches on major population growth conclusions. The types of variables used to quantify
population growth, the nations selected, the time range of the research, and the nature of the control
variables indicated all account for more than half of the diversity in population growth impacts seen in
the literature, according to this study. The study also generates policy-relevant findings, particularly in
light of the fact that multiple policy issues appear to impact the demographic change–economic growth
nexus. The evidence in favor of the progressively negative consequences of population expansion in the
post-1980 period is particularly substantial, implying that demographic concerns should receive more
attention from policymakers than they now do.
