Introduction
The most common buzzword of modern world like globalisation, capitalisation, industrial
revolution, social media, business euphoria, IT (information and communication) and so on are
the consequence of technological advancement. The rapid growth in the field of digital
technology makes our life easier and more comfortable as it has dramatic contribution in all the
aspects of our life including education, health, residence, apparels, communication and business
(Ncsl.org, 2019). The contribution of digital technology in our day to day life is beggar
description and in this regards this report is prepared on basis of the impact of digital technology
on business activity in named ‘Digitalising a Business School’ with an outstanding motto which
is ‘Education Knows no Boundary’.

2
TASK 1 (LO 1)
i. Devising project aims and objectives for ‘Digitalising a Business School’.
A project is set of collative task or enterprise that should be executed within the fixed timeframe
to obtain the ultimate goal of it. And the workings and duties of any individuals or managers to
ascertain any kind of goal, target, mission or vision from the definite project is known as project
management (Merriam-webster.com, 2017). Any kind of return including target, goal, mission,
vision that is achieved from the project is regarded as the aims and objectives of that respective
project.

Project title: Effect of digital technology on business activities with special reference to
‘Digitalising a Business School’

Aims: This project is about the effect of digital technology on business activity how digital
technology has transformed business activities. So, the aim of this project is to build up one of
the world best business school having used all sorts of digital technology which will provide all
the amenities of digital technology and provide service and learning with best quality to its
stakeholders in order to gain competitive advantage and to achieve sustainable development.

Objectives:

 By inaugurating all the digital technology in Chanel’s business school, spread the service
and branch not only to the United Kingdom but also all over the world.
 Generating a number of well-educated, knowledgeable and expert graduate every year
who can contribute for the betterment of humanity and spread the goodwill of this
business school through their outstanding performance.
 Maximizing the wealth of Chanel’s business school
 Performing all the task including academic, administrative, library, marketing and
finance so that all the stakeholders including tutors, pupils and employees can access the
digital technology service will save time, remove sufferings and seems smart & modern.

3
ii. Covering aspects of cost, scope, time, quality, communication, risk and
resources of the project.
The efficiency and effectiveness of a successful project greatly depend on the proper
management plan of it and in this regards this report will provide an effective project
management plan which will emphasise on time, scope, cost, communication, quality, risk and
resource (Oe.ucdavis.edu, 2015).

Scope: The project that we have undertaken will provide the most qualitative service to the
students as our product management plan is prepared in such a way by which goodwill can be
assured (SearchCIO, 2012). It will also confirm us to have competitive advantage from any other
business school as people are trending to be digital in all sector and we are also going in that way
by digitalising the business school.

Time management: Digitalisation is a continuous process as new and stimulating idea is

inventing everyday that is why there is no fixed timescale for the digitilasing of this business
school. But we have undertaken an initial timeframe for incorporating the fundamentals of
digitalising the business school. We planned the duration of time as 30 days at the initial stage.
In addition, being continuous process we will digitalise the business school constantly in
according to the demand of digital technology.

Cost management: We have prepared a budget for the cost management efficiency of the
project in which all sorts of costing through this project has been included. Here is the cost
budget of the project-
Expenditures Amount
Market research £4000
Equipment £150000
Labour £30000
Building Reforming £40000
Website design and development £6000
Employee training £4000
Office and administrative Expenditure £6000
Total £240000

4
Quality management: We will never ever compromise with any kind of fraudulent in terms of
quality control. We will provide the best materials for setting up the digital technology in our
business school by recruiting an expert. There will be appointed a number of controller who will
supervise the digital technology on basis of 24 hours a day and 7 days in a week. Moreover,
recruiting process of tutors and employees will be fair and qualitative and we will enrolled such
kind of human who have a good sense on digital technology. At the end we will supply such kind
of graduate who will be expert in using and controlling digital technology (Mikkelsen, 2010).

Communication management: Digital technology and communication is interlinked in

secondary injunction in which none of this cannot imaging without the contribution of another.
As the project that we are going to implement is all about for communication process, we are
very anxious in the communication management during implementing the project. For internal
communication we will use wide area network (W-LAN) and in case of external communication
there will be availability of call center service; e-mail facilities; tele-conferencing and video
conferencing; social media like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. and Frequent Asked Questions
(FAQ).

Resource management: We are very careful from the very beginning of this project about
human resource, natural resource and artificial resource as digitalising by technology is a
sensitive issue and for any minuscule blunder turn into a whale of a loss. Human resource who
will be appointed for the digitalising process will be knowledgeable and have a good sense in
technology and materials will be ultra-modern technology based which don’t have any negative
consequence to the environment and society.

Risk management: Any kind of probable disadvantageous which fetching out undesirable and
unprofitable outcome is considered as risk. Being high riskiness of this project we will have
precaution for eliminating and minimising risk such as risk prevention, risk avoidance, risk
distribution, risk transfer and elimination of risk (Franke, 2014).

iii. Producing a Work Breakdown Structure and a Gantts Chart to provide time
frames and stages of completion.

Task 02 (LO2)

i. Describing the qualitative and quantitative methods used in the research

Research philosophy: During the research of this project positivism research philosophy has
been used to pick out the comments and views of human being as the positivism research
philosophy contains practical human knowledge, sensibility, trustworthiness and logic. This
research philosophy affirm to make accurate decision as through this process unbiased data
collection is ensured. The qualitative data has been collected by a questionnaire and the
collected data is analysed through different statistical tools further.

Research methodology

Primary data: Primary data is that kind of data which is not used earlier and take out from the
first-hand source through the experience, observation, intuition and practical knowledge of any
individual for the purpose of a specific project (Methods.sagepub.com, 2017). Primary data of
our research has gathered from questionnaire, focused group discussions and interviews.

Secondary data: Secondary data is also counted as the crucial for conducting any kind of
research which should be collected from various kinds of articles, journals, magazines, agencies
and organization (Vartanian, 2011). In this research, we used desk research, note making,
recording source and reference of different research organization, journal and newspaper.

Data source: Primary and secondary data that we have collected for conducting research is
counted as the source of data.

Quantitative research: Those kind of which is used to measure numeric data such as amount,
number, percentage etc. has been founded in quantitative research (Greasley, 2013).

Qualitative research: The data which expose non-numeric quantity on the other hand reflects
one’s comments, views, belief, thought and perception for about a certain fact has been founded
in qualitative research (Bryman, 2015).

Sample size: The total number of participant in our research is 100. Of them 50 participant are
by online research and the other by offline research.

ii. Evaluating the accuracy and reliability of the different research methods
used.
To examine two important aspects of the research that is qualitative triangulation and qualitative
paradigm, the accuracy and reliability of the research has to be used. Basically the qualitative
research of a project has done to understand the confusing situation. On the other hand accuracy
and reliability in terms of quantitative research measures how accurately the concept is prepared.

Evaluation

Project management plan: The project management plan of this report cut out an outstanding
consequence in implementing the project as it will provide valuable information about the scope,
give the idea of total cost; identify the risk in which path there should be more cautious more
even give proper guideline for preventing risk; find out the timeframe in which time what task
should be done and so on. There exist some limitations in the project management plan too
including time consuming, lack in planning, managing human resource, expensive and
misdirecting etc. (Plan, Thrive and Connection, 2019).

Mixed methodology: In the research for implementing this project we have used mixed
methodology and there exist both advantage and disadvantage in here all together. In qualitative
research, we have collected a wide range of information but we have also face a lot of difficulties
too. It is really time consuming and really hard to access with the people. In terms of quantitative
research, though it is easy and quick to administrate and evaluate, the difficulty was it needed a
large amount of sample (McFarland, 2013).

Q6. How to Chanel’s business school ensure wealth maximising?

To ensure wealth maximisation Chanel has to undertake some massive and ambitious program.
There should not compromise with the quality by anything. The teachers who will teaches the
students must be knowledge able and the need the tendency to serve by heart and soul for the
betterment of student. The service of digital technology will be given with in the positive way. It
is a must to ensure that any bad effect of digitalistion should not be fallen to the students. Student
performance in the class and should be checked regularly and there should build up an
atmosphere of seminar, symposium, consultation, business case competition and training
regularly for the self-development of the students along with teachers. By doing above
mentioned activities it is hoped that this business school’s goodwill spread all over the world and
foreign and native students get admitted more and more day by day ultimately result in
maximisation of wealth (Bainbridge, 2012).

Q7. How Chanel’s business school will ensure competitive advantage and sustainable
development?

To ensure competitive advantage Chanel should use the techniques of cost leadership,
differentiation, focus. If Chanel make the expenses according to the report that has been
explained in project management plan, cost leadership will be ensure. To be different from others
Chanel’s should implement digital technology in the school which has already been undertaken,
thus differentiation will be ensured after finishing the project. To ensure another important
milestone that is focus, Chanel should follow the analysis part of this report. After gaining the
competitive advantage Chanel will be able to attract more and more student than the other.
Finally the sustainable development can be ensure by admitting that large of student in the
business school (Huang et al., 2015).

21
ii. Evaluation of the selected tools
With a view to analysing the research, we have collected the required data by conducting a
questionnaire through fieldwork and Facebook pool. The field work has done into several states
of United Kingdom and in Facebook pool respondents were from different parts of the world.
For that’s why we can conclude that we have maintained pertinence and accuracy highly in our
research. After that we have analysed the data by using Microsoft excel and SPSS. Microsoft
excel helps us to calculate the percentage of different options ratio and to present it graphically
by Pie chart and Bar chart. By using this process we have estimate the perfect picture of
efficiency and effectiveness of this project. There were also some drawbacks in analysing
process as Microsoft excel gives us only the ratio of reflection of different options but failed to
provide us any suggestion in which part there is the deficiencies and what should be done in
reforming this situation. We should use much more developing tools for analysing the research
but we have failed to do so (Lenzini, Miorandi and Ramaswami, 2010).

22
iii. Communicating appropriate recommendations to facilitate the drawing of
valid and meaningful conclusions.
There are also some recommendations that we have notice after analysing the data which is very
much important in order to obtain the ultimate goal of Chanel’s business school and to obtain
sustainable development. The recommendations has set from the additional feedback of the
people and in according to flaws that we have noticed in conducting the whole research (Oliver,
2011). They are:

Recommendations

 From the very beginning of implementing digital technology, the authors should be
concerned about both internal and external risk that insist in the project. If managers can
identify the inherited risk of the project, he or she will able to manage the resource and
timeframe accordingly result in the accomplishing the task with efficiency and
effectiveness.
 The business school should complete the marketing process in a delicious way as we
know that advertisement is the expansion. More and more advertisement can reach to the
remote level place and students will become interested highly to get admission in this
college.
 The authors of this business school should undertake a campaign to spread the goodwill
of this college and through this people should be informed about the plan of Chanel’s
regarding digitalise the school.
 .The website that will have prepared should be linked with Google thus anyone can
access this website by searching the school name in google and there should also have
account in social media like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
 In incorporating the business school the digitalisation should be in such a way so that
physically challenged student can complete their study and there should be special
scholarship system for the financially backward student.
 Chanel’s business school should recruit teachers who are expert in using it and sufficient
training program should be launched for teachers in order update them with the
knowledge of digital technology.

23
 In implementing the project focused group responsibility should be ensured as the focus
group establish a good combination of knowledge and experience. Multiple department
should be formed by sub diving the task and every department should for an integrated
way to accomplish the goal.
 Budgetary control system should be introduced and the college authority should perform
their corporate social responsibility accordingly.

At last it is hoped that Chanel Gabrielle should be constructive in leading, commanding and
motivating employees to ensure sustainability and profitability of this project.

24
TASK 4 (LO4)
i. Reflecting on the value of undertaking the research to meet the stated
objectives and own learning and performance
The aim and objective of the project ‘Digitalising a business school’ was ensuring sustainable
development and competitive advantage through proving the facility of digital technology in the
education system. I have witnessed different critical situation through conducting the project and
experience a lot which is described below-

At the very beginning of this report I have defined the objective of the Chanel’s business school
project. Through defining a project, the work activity and duty of any individual related to that
respective project can be pre-determined.

In the project identifying risk and eliminating ways of risk is make the baseline for further
process. In this report not only I have identified the risk but also I have tried to describe cost,
scope, time, quality and resource management cordially. Through this working my managerial
quality has been flourished (Franke, 2014).

Then most challenging activities of a research project is done by me and it is collection of data.
In collecting primary and secondary including quantitative and qualitative format I have prepared
a questionnaire by which I have collect information by fieldwork and online basis. For
completing this task I have gone from man to man and tried my best to understand my emotion
and convincing them to collect necessary data for my research. Though facing some difficulties
for doing this I believe at present that my confidence level high of working with various types of
human being. I am become confident about leading and my endurance ability increased in a
dramatic way by doing this (Bryman, 2015).

25
After that collecting data, I have analysed the data using different types of using computer
simulation process. I have also acquired practical knowledge of information technology as this
report was all about technology. My skills of Microsoft office has upgraded too.

Now I am able to make any critical plan about any king of comprehensive topic as I have made
project management in this report. I also learned how to sub divided the task and how to make
breakdown structure for any work through conducting this report.

Finally, I want to speak boldly that I enjoyed a lot and it was outstanding feelings indeed to
finish the task and undoubtedly it was great chance for me to enhance my communication and
management skills.

26
ii. Evaluating of the value of the project management process and use of
quality research to meet stated objectives and support own learning and
performance.
A project management plan outlines the planning and controlling process for a respective project.
In a project management plan there should include different aspects of scope, time, cost, quality,
communication, risk and resource along with the probable solution of identifying problems.

It is far better easy for a manager to accomplish the ultimate aims and objectives of a project by
following the process of a project management. A project management plan helps a manager to
found the information of required data and he or she will be able to collect data from the source
and also able to know how to use the data (Plan, Thrive and Connection, 2019).

The project management plan of this report is a comprehensive for not only digitalise Chanel’s
business school but also helpful for any kind of educational organisation. Through this project I
have come to know how to manage a project plan how organise the natural resources with human
resource. My communication ability has developed through as I has to meet and make
conversation with different mind and different age people. After all, I can say that I am fully
prepared to manage a project.

27
Conclusion
In conclusion it can be stated that digital technology make a revolutionary change in the area of
business activity. Any kind of activity regarding business including operation, book keeping,
recording transections, financing, marketing process, accounting activity etc. In this report I have
prepared a project management plan and analyse different aspect of ‘Difitalising a business
school’. By following the process of this report Chanel Gabrielle can be able to furnish all the
facilities of digital technology in his business school and she will also be able to attain
sustainable development result in wealth maximisation.
