Radio Modes
1. User Mode:
User mode is conventional communication mode. Turn the power on, the radio enters user mode.
2. Reset Mode
(1) Turn channel selector knob to the corresponding position 16.
(2) Holding down PTT and Side key , and then turn the power on. After 2 seconds release PTT and Side key with
orange LED flashing.
(3) Press Side key for 5 seconds and meanwhile turn channel selector, the Red LED lights. Channel data and
settings begin to be initialized (Refer to the initial data table).when finished the red LED turn off.
Remarks: The old data (frequency, CTCSS/CDCSS, channel function settings) will be changed once the radio is reset,
and part of functions will also be changed. Therefore, do not make this operation unless it’s very necessary, such as
changing the EEPROM, etc.
3. PC Programming Mode
The following parameters can be set through programming software (Refer to the figure2):
(1) Receive frequency and transmit frequency
(2) Receive signaling and transmit signaling

QP-650 Circuit Description
Circuit Description
1. Power Supply
Power supply of the radio is derived from the battery, then feeds through power switch. The power
supplies voltage for two AVRs. IC2605 supplies 3V (5M) voltage for the control circuit. And IC2604
supplies 3V (5C) voltage for RF IC and the shared circuit.

QP-650 Circuit Description
Receiver
The input signal from antenna is filtered by a low pass filter and then goes to IC1403 to be
processed after passing through the receive/transmit switch circuit
The demodulated AF signal obtained from IC1403 passes through a volume control circuit and then
is amplified to a sufficient level to drive the speaker by AF power amplifier (IC2401).
The Squelch and CTCSS/CDCSS signaling and PTT ID from the IC1403 are processed by the
MCU .
Transmitter
Transmit audio
The audio signal from microphone is amplified, pre-emphasized, filtered, and FM modulation in
IC1403.
CTCSS/CDCSS Encoder
The necessary frequency for CTCSS/CDCSS encoder is generated by IC505 and then enter
IC1403 to FM-modulated
RF amplifier
The transmit signal obtained from IC1403 is amplified by Q1102. This amplified signal is passed to
power amplifier Q1105 and Q1107, and is capable of producing a 5.0W RF power.
Antenna Switch and LPF
The RF amplifier output signal is passed through a low-pass filter network and a transmit/receive
switch circuit before it is passed to the antenna terminal. The transmit/receive switch circuit is comprised
of D1101 and D1102, D1103. They is turned on in transmit mode and off in receive mode.
3.Control system
The IC506 CPU operates at 19.6608 MHz.
The block diagram of MCU control system is shown as following:

QP-650 Circuit Description
Circuit in this section is mainly comprised of MCU, EEPROM etc.
MCU control circuit accomplishes the following functions: accomplish the reset initialization
according to the programmed feature of the radio when power on; detect keying signal and monitor
battery voltage; send necessary frequency data to PLL according to encode of the channel; switch and
control transmit/receive according to the signal input from PTT; turn on/off the mute circuit according to
the input signaling decode signal and squelch level signal; output control signal to control the light/off of
LED; control signaling process IC to perform tasks.

QP-650 Adjustment Description
Adjustment Description
The radio can be adjusted by manual adjustment. Manual adjustment procedure is as follow. (Refer to
“All reset mode” and “manual adjust mode” in the section Software Specification.)
Instrument:
Radio Communication Test Set 1 set
3A/10V Power Supply 1 set
Digital Voltmeter 1 set
3A Ammeter 1 set
Adjustment:
1. Initializing:
It’s necessary to initialize the radio before alignment because there is no needed information in
EEPROM when the radio is manufactured. Please refer to the “all reset mode” in the section
Software Specification for details.
2. Adjustment:
Some items can be adjusted in conventional communication mode and the others in manual adjust
mode. Turn on the power, the radio enters conventional communication mode. If manual adjust
mode is enabled, Please refer to the section Software Specification.
