Last August Tom spent his holiday on his friend Jack’s farm. August is the harvest time of the year
for farmers because it is then that they have to cut the corn. People cannot cut corn when it is wet so they have
to wait for the sunshine, and then cut and dry the corn quickly before rain comes.
The weather was fine during his stay on the farm. Every day, Tom and Jack got up very early in the
morning then they had a big breakfast with plenty of farm products such as sausages, eggs, bread, broccoli,

peaceful atmosphere, the fresh air as well as the vivid scenery nearly took Tom’s breath away and he wished
his parents could have a cottage in the country.
Jack’s family treated Tom very well, so he feels like a member of the family. The farm work, the
fresh, cool and pure air made him feel relaxed and healthy when he came back to the city for his school work.
