FOREWARD
INTRODUCTION
The aim of writing this book is to change the state of mental activities and alter the
deploring academic condition of this century and future generations.
There is no child or person that is born without brain or dullard. I am amazed that
we are in the era of Expo, Miracle Centres and all forms of exam malpractice.
Browsing and google and computer age. The time of knowing times table in one’s
brain has gone. The time of additional mathematics and quadratic equation till
QED has gone.
This is the time of calculator, handset, laptop. Simple addition in Mathematics,
physics, chemistry, economics etc, are being solved with calculator. Ask a twelve
years old child for instance, 12+18+20, He will be looking for calculator or
handset. An English scholar will browse or google before he will answer this
question – what is a noun, pronoun, adverb, adjective, conjunction etc.
How many student now has oxford as advanced learner dictionary but they have
handsets. I am not condemning computer age or modernization as development but
there are certain level one should reach before calculator, simple things one is
supposed to know in the brain is zero, no more deep thinking or reasoning. Some
of us did not attend private school’s. it was LGA or Mission Schools. How many
Student or Pupil go to prep or study after school or weekend. Instead of reading
they indulge in watching films and football.
Home lesson Teacher is good, but test this knowledge first. The ones that can solve
Algebra, brain storming Mathematics, quantitative reasoning without much use of
calculator and handset is recommendable.
After reading this small piece and trying to follow the Do’s and Don’ts, expect a
generation of genius and excellent. The rate of alhzehemier dementia and loss of
memory (Amnesia), and other things that affect the brain cells that would have
been avoided will be a story of the past. Thank You.
CHAPTER I: BRIEF OF BRAIN TISSUE
The brain is a complex organ that controls thought, memory emotion, touch, motor
skills, vision, breathing, temperature, hunger and every process and activities that
regulate our body. It is one of the largest organ of the body.
Functions of the Brain
 Responsible for attention and concentrate
 Responsible for self-monitoring
 Responsible for organization
 Responsible for speaking (expressive language)
 Awareness of abilities and limitations
 Personality
 Mental Flexibility
 Inhibition of behaviours to mention but few

The Main Functions of the Brain:

 Judgement
 Comprehension
 Processing
 Reading
 Focusing
 Thinking (Cognition)
 Memorizing
Everything that happens in a living organism mostly human being is controlled by
the brain. Any defect or problem in any part of the brain result to problem of the
part of the body that is being controlled by that part of the brain.
The earlier belief that the brains growth and function decline with age has been
disproved. The brain cells start developing from five week of conception and
continues in a fetus till 33 weeks when it then separates in three part and stops
developing at 25 years of age. The functions and activities continues throughout
life if all things are equal and normal.
The brain is a changing organ. Its capability and vitality depends on how you treat,
handle and nourish it.
How do we use and handle our brain?
From this point, we mention intelligent quotient (IQ) and memory.
Intelligent Quotient is a total score derived from several standard test designed to
assess human intelligence. It is the cognitive intelligence, an assessment of your
ability to think and reason. Our success in life whether academically or otherwise
depends more on our God and Intelligent Quotient.
Intelligent Quotient score differs in individual, it is also the measure of our ability
to reason and solve problems. It essentially reflects how well you did on a specific
test as compared to other people of your age group. While the test may vary, the
average IQ on many test is 100 and 68%. Score lies between 85 and 115 ; two third
of people score 85 – 115.

120 to 130 is good and excellent

Chapter 2: Relationship between IQ, brain power and Nutrition.
Nutrition: This is all about the food we eat, the type, source, presentation
preservation, preparation and consumption.
It is a process by which animals and plant takes in and utilize food substance and
eliminates the unwanted end products of it.
There are two main type of Nutrition:
1. Macro nutrients (Carbohydrates Protein and fat): meat, milk, fish, red oil,
butter etc.
2. Micronutrients (Vitamins and Minerals): fruits – Oranges, Mango, Carrot
etc. Nutrition is the pivot on which brain development, maturity, function
and general body activities lies. Human being, animal and plant eat to live, it
is said that we are what we eat.
From the union of Ovum (Egg and Semen) through the development of Fetus, all
are influenced by the type of food and environment. The zygote (I.E the early stage
of formed fetus) eats, though not the way babies, children and older adults eats.
The Fetus absorbs and assimilate through the mothers route (Placenta and Cord)
through tiny vessels (Villi).
The formation of the brain starts as early as five weeks of conception and
continues till 25 years of age, but functions and activities continues throughout life.
These are influenced mostly by what the mother eats and other life style.
A woman who is malnourished, anaemic or lacks one or more nutrient during
pregnancy, the fetuses development and growth will be retarded mostly the brain
cells, and affects the Intelligent Quotient.
A well-nourished pregnant woman always produces a well formed physically and
mentally alert baby. Some of the congenital malformed and deformed babies are as
a result of poor nutrition, we should take note and take action.
Breast milk and breast feeding is the utmost and the best, it contains all food
components that the baby needs in their correct proportion as long as the mother is
feeding adequately in correct proportion.
Depriving breast feeding mother’s some essential food items in the practice of
culture, tradition and beliefs is bad and unhealthy. Many of them end up in
Anaemia, poor feeding and malnutrition leading to poor lactation and or no
lactation at all.
Poorly breast fed babies, many come up in retardation of growth, low brain power
and low intelligent quotient.
Most artificially fed babies grow fast and big like the animal of which their milk
they have taken and behave like these animals with low brain faculty and low
intelligent quotient.
Other things that pregnant women takes that affect in the womb (Uterus) are hard
drugs (self-medication), native concursion and alcohol.
Some craving and habits; many women take lipton tea and tobacco giving reason
that they do not want their babies to grow too big in the womb. They want to push
tiny babies during second stage of labour. All these are unhealthy life styles.
EFFECTS OF ARTIFICIAL MILK ON CHILDREN
We are what we eat is said several times in this write up. All artificial milk are
product of animals namely: Cows, Sheep, Goat etc.
During the 1980s to early 1990s many families exhibit their wealth by emulating
the foreign countries in feeding their babies with artificial milk some women gave
reason of maintaining good shape and standing breast. The result of these is what
we are seeing today in our environment. Youths and teenagers turning to
something different from our own way of life.
Animals-like behaviours almost 70-80% behave exactly the way of animals of
which its milk they took “everything that a snake hatch will have a tail”.
Are we surprised of some many society vices – juvenile, delinquency, immorality,
kidnapping, yahoo-yahoo, restlessness, drug abuse and drug addict to mention but
a few, results of emulations in the name of modernization and socialization – the so
called computer age.
Before you get a child fed with artificial milk behaving very well, he or she must
have been given extra-extra care both home and school just like you can equally
tame some animals like dog etc and they hear and behave differently.
Scientifically, now there is no reason or room to give our babies artificial milk
except in special cases -where the mother is dead or failed lactation,
in that case care should be taken in the preparation of milk and water in correct
proportion.
The cleanliness and hygiene of cup and spoon should be assured no feeding bottle
or feeder.
Chapter 3
We now move to the main business of this book “Brain Power” the majority point
is centered on nutrition that is foods eaten, time of eating, type of food to eat and
those not to eat, preparation and preservation and how they enhance and deter the
brain power and function.
Breakfast: Breakfast should be taken on or before 8:00 Am whether adult or
children. This is very important for brain activity and function. It elevates and
maintain the health and wellbeing of brain cells. Over the night, sleeping, breathing
and other activities that occur during sleeping always syphon the glucose store of
the brain. Brain uses a lot of glucose over the night.
Early breakfast boost memory and attention significantly, mostly in school,
children aged between 6 – 18 years. A test was carried out on 30 children divided
in three group – Group A – ate at 8: 00 Am, Group B ate around 8: 30 – 9: 00 am
Group C didn’t eat at all.
The result showed the score of Group A higher than those of Group B, those that
didn’t eat at all failed woefully. I now urge parent, guardians to always provide
breakfast early for their children. If a child eats warm food from 6: 30 Am, 7:00
Am-8: 00 Am, there’s nothing wrong with it.
Not only giving early breakfast – what is the quality and quantity of the food full
basin or tray of Akpu, Garri, Rice, Beans, Yam etc. as breakfast for children and
adult is not ideal. Heavy meals at breakfast is not good.
A cup of tea and few slices of bread. Tea is not coffee or lipton, Pap mixed
adequately with Akara (Bean Cake), Moi. moi. Or Okpa is good, Egg, boiled or
fried with fresh oil is good. Raw eggs in a tea or pap is bad. It contains some
bacteria that can cause infection like typhoid or amoebic. Small-small meal at a
time in better then heavy meal
The meal should be balanced diet it will contain “Protein E.G Fish, Milk, Egg,
Crayfish, Beans, Meat etc.
Carbohydrate: Bread, Yam, Rice , Akpu, Garri, Sugar, Potato etc.
Vitamin: Orange, Mango, Paw-Paw, Carrot, Tomato, Vegetable.
Fat: Oil, Butter, Fish Oil, etc.
Water: Clean Water, Water Melon
Minerals: Calcium, Sodium Chloride etc.
Fibre: Roughages from vegetable, Oranges, Corn, Coconut etc.
A child in school should have launch box to be taken anytime from
10: 30 – 11: 00 Am almost 12:00 noon. Do not ever give your child junk food as
lunch meal.Too much Biscuit, Sweet and sugary things are harmful to the Teeth
and Brain.
Under age children should not fast, even if it is 6: 00 Am – 10: 00 Am. It kills their
brain cells. Breakfast on or before 8: 00 Am is very important for brain function in
school and good performance.. There are other things that boost the brain function
and upgrade the Intelligent Quotient which we will be saying in this book. Before
we go further, we mentioned some other ailment that result from not keeping your
brain cells fit. Stop
 Loss of memory (Amnesia)
 Parkimsous disease
 Alhzahemiers

1. Loss of Memory: this is the inability to remember things either short term or
long term. A man was having his car key inside his wallet in his armpit, he
started looking for it for a long time, beating his son and shouting at his wife,
every member of the household went in search of the key and wallet.
He could not go out again because his car key was missing, trying to remove his
shirt only for the wallet to fall from his armpit, the car key was inside the
wallet. What an embarrassment. So many other things like this occurs from
time to time in persons with loss of memory. Some people cannot remember the
name of their children or their date of birth or phone number, not that the
person has reached the age of Methusala of the bible.
HOW DO PEOPLE GET AMNESIA
 Any disease or injury that affects the brain can interfere with memory.
 Life style: Bad life style E.g drinking too much alcohol for a long time
 Abuse of substance and smoking
 Lack of nutrients. Etc
Amnesia can be temporary or permanent. It has no cure, mostly the permanent
type. But adhering to some instructions given in this book can help the person and
family to cope.
2. Alhzahemier’s disease: Alzhemier (Senile dementia) is a progressive disease
that destroys memory and other important mental functions. It hard to treat but
can be managed with instructions and change of diet and life style.
In this case, brain cell degenerate and die, it is worse than memory loss, the
human adult starts behaving like a baby. He can move out of the house, wander
about and even get lost. Spends money anyhow, may not know money
denominations and cannot pay bills etc. Repetition of questions and statements.
Delay in doing duly tasks, complete behavioral changes. Inability to carry out
simple tasks.
It occurs mostly in elderly people from 60 years, but I have seen a case of a
person age 40 years – an alcoholist.
COMMON PREVENTIONS
 Stop smoking
 Keep alcohol to a minimum
 Eat a healthy balanced diet
 Take plenty fruits and vegetables daily.
 Avoid sugary things, snacks, processed meat and starch like potatoes
 Exercise as you can cope and carry.
 Prevent and control vascular disease like High Blood Pressure, High
Cholesterol and diabeties`
PARKINSON DISEASE
Is a disorder of the central nervous system that affects movement often including
tremors, it cannot be cured but can be managed. It is a chronic condition and life
long ailment. The nerve cells in the brain is damage. The level of dopamine drops
leading to the symptoms above.
It is common in Nigeria, mostly in the aged, but occurs in a few youths due to their
lifestyle mostly Alcohol and Abuse of Drugs.
It is equally genetically ( inherited) i.e runs in the family.
Exposure to some toxins and bad lifestyles example drinking and smoking.
There are wonderful things to do to avert this condition and boost the brain cells
and intelligent quotient of scholars.
Dullards can turn to genius within a short while, if one follow this hints

LIST OF SOME NUTS THAT CAN HELP TO BOOST INTELLIGENT
QUOTIENT AND PREVENT SOME OF THESE PROBLEMS.
 Walnut : this is a wonderful nut that nature has provided for us, but we
ignore them most of the time because we do not know the value.
Walnut deserve a special mention. it has a very important amino acid and fatty acid
that nourishes the brain. It equally helps in developing the neurotransmitters of the
brain thereby activating its function.
It is not always available, get them in quantity when in season. If you have a
below average or a dull child in school, no matter the age, give the child walnut
daily for three months, you will see great change and you will tell other parents
and guidance with similar cases.
Adults and aged who are forgetful use walnut daily for three months and see
what happens. This is natures gift to man.
Other nuts and seeds that are equally good for brain power are groundnut,
tiger nut (Ayaya), olive nut, almonds, cashew and nut, pea, cowpea, avocado pear
and nuts, bread fruits, watermelon seeds e.t.c. Do not throw seeds away e.g Paw
paw seeds, Water melon seeds etc.
 Leafy green vegetable: they are very rich in minerals, such minerals are like
fresh air to our brain and keep the brain in alkaline state not acidic. If the
brain becomes acidic, it irritates and continues acidity of brain leads to
malfunction and brain disorder
 Oxygen- this keeps the brain sharp and increases mental focus and makes
thinking clear. Leafy green vegetable also has a lot of folic acid that
improves memory and brain functions.
 Oily fishes- that is salmon, geisha, sakar. They contain important substance
called omega fatty acid which is vital for brain health. If one can be taking
only fish twice a week and giving it to pupils and students from now you
will be producing genius in the next generation.
This draws our attention to another wonderful natures gift to mankind, a sea
creature called
Krill fish – this is a small fish that resembles crayfish, but its not bent like
cray fish. It is tiny and straight. They are often found in oceans and big seas. The
name krill comes from Norwegian word krill – meaning small fish. It produces
special oil called krill oil, the oil has fatty acid that does a lot of work in human
body.
 It decreases swelling
 It lowers cholesterol
 It reduces the sticking of blood platelets thereby reducing clothing of blood
and Cerebro-Vascular-Accident (CVA) and Stroke.
1. It has an important substance called Desosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) and EPA.
2. It contains vitamin E, A, and D which are greatly needed in our body
3. It contains Astaxanthin, Antitoxin.
4. It has Oxygen Radical Absorptance Capacity (ORAC)
It is more valuable than other fishes that has oil.
Note: Daily dose of krill oil or krill fish for 30 days is a wonder drug to even
Attention Deficiency Syndrome (ADS) Children, metal cases and dullard and very
old age cases that has develop mental problems it reverses even the worst cases
that has develop mental problems it reverses even the worst cases of memory loss,
depression, Schizophrenia, Bipolar disorder, low Intelligent Quotient, Senile
Dementia and menopausal syndrome.
Other oily fishes are Salmon fish, Tuna, Cord, Herrings, Crabs e.t.c.
Our brain function and memory does not have to decline because we are
getting old or already old. People read even after 60 Years. We should supply our
brain with the necessary nutrients it needs to perform its jobs Desosahexaenoic
Acid (DHA) and EPA. We can equally get krill oil supplement E.g Omega 3
Supplement capsule, Fish oil Capsule etc.
OTHER NUTRITIOUS ASPECT OF BRAIN POWER:
1. Eat Berries: Blue berries, Red berries etc.
2. Eat fish more than meat.
3. Take Tiger nuts mostly when fresh, stop buying Junk food buy Tiger nuts
instead of Buns, Puff – Puff, Biscuit and Donut.
4. Multivitamins tablets does a lot to the brain. You may not get a lot of
vitamin from your daily meal because of preparation and preservation,
supplement with multivitamin daily for three months will help.
 Adults should occasionally drink Red wine in moderation, it has anti-oxidant
effect (I.E chemical that protects the Brain).
 Legumes – (Oil Bean (Ugba), local Beans (Akidi)) Natural fruits and
vegetables, spices – Curry, Scent Leaves, Garden Eggs and Leaves, Bread
Fruits (Ukwa), cherry (Udara), Pears, Healthy fresh things, Avocado pears,
Shawa Chops, Guava, Apples, Water Melon, Cucumber, Cabage, Lettuce
leaves, Onions, Pineapple etc.
 Fruits juice – drink a lot of fruit juice, prepare the juice yourself or your wife
or sister with fresh fruits like orange, Paw Paw, Pineapple, Tiger Nut, they
are better than packet ones or the ones made by market woman because they
over dilute them to make more money.
Other secrets About Fruits:
 Apple: take enough Apple mostly the dark red one daily, give your child and
wards one Apple daily for 30 days. It anti-oxidant effect eliminate free
radicals that damage the outing lining of the Neurons. Eat them with their
skin and seed after washing with salt and water, it has good effect on the
brain.
 Avocado Pear: it is a super food rich in Vitamins, Minerals and Anti –
oxidants. It also contains Omega 3, Vitamin E, Potassium and more, that
helps in brain function and activities. It helps in promoting the flow of blood
to the Brain. Eat and give your children everyday. There will be great
change in Brain Power.
 Banana: it is very rich in vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine). Pyridoxine is very
important in proper Brain Function, take at least three Bananas daily, your
child, youth and the elderly ones for three months – there must be changes in
mental and academic activities also Banana is very good in both physical
and cosmetic aspect of life. The high Magnesium content of banana helps in
removing Ammonia from the body thus preventing its disruptive effect on
the brain. It equally upgrade the nerve cells of the brain.
 Black berries – they reduces inflammation of the brain cells thereby
promoting communication between neurons of the brain and help to absorb
new information.
 Black currant – improves alertness and concentration, it reduces mental
stress and fatigue. It has high vitamin C in it which increases mental agility
and prevent burn out of brain cells.
 Blue berries – reduces short term memory loss because it creates new
connective pathway in the brain.
 Cantaloupe – it has sweet taste, has high potassium content. Potassium helps
in alertness and remaining focused by supplying much Oxygen to the Brain
 Grapes: it has Polyphenol substance which helps in heart and brain function.
 Oranges: rich in vitamin C, Fibre and Flavonoids. Both help to boost
cognition and memory mostly in the elderly.
 Plum: boost Brain Power in two ways –
a) High Content of Amino Acids that produces serotonin. Serotonin is a
hormone that helps in solving problems.
b) It has an Anti – Oxidant that helps in taking more oxygen to the Brain.
 Pomegranates – this is very good for pregnant women. It helps the infants
and fetuses Brain in case of Oxygen deprivation.
 Quail Eggs – this is another wonderful thing that helps in learning abilities,
concentration and memory retention, drink or eat Quail eggs daily, for at
least one month, your brain power and activities will improve thrice. For
drinking purpose – soak the egg in hot water for at least five minutes, add
salt in the hot water before soaking. Then break it in a clean cup, stir and
drink
Note: Not Boiling water.
 Green tea – green tea is very good for brain function mostly in the elderly.
Take it regularly, it helps a lot.
 Eat a lot of beans and whole grains they have much vitamin B in them,
which is good for the brain
 Curry, Turmeric are also good for the brain
 Olive oil –it is good in blood flow and reduce blood clot that causes stroke
and Celebro-Vascular Accident (CVA)
 Cocoa – food that contain cocoa examples; chocolate helps in boosting the
brain function.
 Apples contains Qercetin, an anti-oxidant that protects from alzehemier
disease
 Spinach – it has high folic acid that helps in formation of cells including
brain cells.
 Unripe plantain does a lot in formation of various cells mostly semen and
amino acids of the brain
 Onions – red onion has Anthoiyain and Qercertin. They help in brain
function
 Grape of all colors
 Cherries
 Egg plants
 Rose Mary – they have neuro-protector and improves memory.
What the students and scholars eats that has effect on their academic
performances
CHAPTER 5
The other life styles and behavior that helps in boosting the brain power and
functions; apart from nutritional aspects.
1. Exercises – the brain unlike other parts of the body must be kept active. It
must have regular exercise together with good nutrients to keep it healthy
and active
HOW DO WE EXERCISE OUR BRAIN
- Reading – people should not sit idle all the time, even if you are done with
school or other academic activities. Read magazines, Stories, Newspapers,
Articles, Bible, Psalms and other Prayer books, Literature Books and
Novels, Reading is a good brain activator.
2. Practice Crosswords, Puzzles, Play Scrabble, whot and Ludo. These helps in
growth of new brain cells and connections between the cells, avoid routine
duties every day.
3. Learn new language – it stimulates the brain to think. Learn and participate
in challenging games – physical exercises keeps body and soul including
brain fit. and increases the flow of blood to the brain and enough oxygen
supply.
4. Meditation – this increases intelligent quotient and brain function. Stay
alone in a quiet place. Play and solve some difficult problems by meditating.
5. Listen and enjoy calm music and songs.
- Do some walking in natural places.
- Do some gardening and nature flowers.
- Resting and lying near a Beach to listen to sounds and waves of rivers and
seas, oceans all has effects good on the brain so long as the places are safe
and sound.
6. Relaxing, crossing your legs on a bench, table or low stool with a cup of
Tea, fresh Fruit Juice Red wine, etc for a moment of enjoyment has great
effect on the Brain.
7. Social interaction – our emotional and mental stimulation matters a lot, we
need friends (Good ones) no man is an Island. Enough social interaction
prevent dementia. Attend parties, concerts, Christian drama, debates, Quiz
competition and inter – house sport for children, give talks, compose songs,
poems, riddles and jokes, music etc. watch television and good films all to
moderate times.
 Learn New Skills – Play an instrument – learning is a continuous process,
workers should not be content with their present job. Learn some other things
like weaving, carpentry, sowing, Trading, fashion design etc. try and be
computer literate, register for lesson on different a field.
Always keep the brain working. Write a book, novel, article again and again.
All these preserves memory to a very old age. Pupils, Student and other
scholars should form habit of reading and writing everytime and shy from
chatting and face booking and things like that. Keep the brain doing one thing
or the other prevents it from shrinking mostly in the elderly.
There is an area in the Brain called Hypocampus that is involved in formation
of memory. As one grows older, it starts to shrink, but regular Brain exercise
as mentioned above reduces the incident. Some events of excitement helps at
last twice or thrice in a week or as your body can allow you.
 Travel from time to time, as it is said that Traveling is part of education. Take
students to areas of interest (Excursion ) like; Zoo, Museum, Recreational
centres and places of wonders.

 Practice to write with your opposite hand. For example, if you are right
handed, try to write with your left hand occasionally. It helps in Brain Power.
Eat with left hand, brush your teeth with left hand etc, up to 15 Minutes daily
for 30 Days, has good effect on the brain function.
 Drawing – Carve and Paint Pictures – Draw a picture or make a diagram, use a
coloured pencil and draw a lot of pictures daily, weekly for some months. This
increases and improves creativity and brain function.
 Deep breathing – increases oxygen and blood supply to the brain. Do these 15
– 20 minutes daily for a long period of time to boost your Brain Power.
 Laughing – form the habit of laughing most of the time. It causes the release of
Brain Endorphins (A chemical that draws out and increases general wellbeing).
Laughing equally reduces stress and prevent the dangers of over stress to our
body.
Watch and listen to all these comedy, Diahoea of the mouth, crack jokes and
go to concerts to increase endorphin release and level in the body.
Encourage occasional debate and argument in your workplace, market or club.
This immediately has effect on the brain.
 Change of environment – Change your routine – relocate, change office,
Market business etc if possible. It helps to change brain tone and activity.
 Set a goal – it helps in positive thinking and action. All these helps in boosting
brain and brings success.
Listen and dance to music – these strengthens the right hemisphere of the
brain. People that listen and dance to music and songs are always smart and
emotionally intelligent.

problem or the other eats much (Bulima), compounding their cases.

‘Legedis Benz’. This is equally effective in brain boosting. It puts your mind in
a relax state of clear thoughts. It gives your Brain chance to wander and free
itself from any troubling thought.
 Mimic others – this helps to activate the brain power and helps in brain’s
natural ability to adopt quickly in new situation and environment.
 Be Self – Aware – learn to let go of ego – driven and emotional aspect of life,
rational thinking sometimes allows you to become self-aware, which in turn
allows you to make future decision to achieve brain health.
 Have holy sex – sex among married couples is a natural way in producing
hormone that are vital to the brain. It has stress relieving effect and boost brain
function. Helps in building confidence and ability to think positively. Unholy
sex does the opposite because everything done in tension and with fear of the
unknown with negative consequences brings infection.

EXAM AND IN EXAM HALL.
 Stay in school and be regular in lectures and class works. Do your assignment
and test. Take correction, read ahead of your curriculum.
 Ask questions and answer questions. These keep your brain active and in shape
and provide new thoughts. Read your topic several times, beg your
examination questions mostly difficult ones. You know that practice makes
perfect. Repeat reading before going to bed. Read again in the morning after
morning prayers. Pick some vital points, copy them out and place it where you
see them every time, you will easily grab them.
 Start yawning – from time to time, yawn, mostly in difficult situations, before
solving mathematics equation or difficult examination questions that has been
forgotten. Yawning keeps the brain cool. It is not always fatigue or boredom. It
is also an evolutionary way to allow more Oxygen to our brain. When someone
yawns, the respiratory organ expands and allow more air to the alveoli and
lungs then to the brain.
 Associate memory with environment – anything learned in a particular place
and you have forgotten. Try to remember and think of the environment and
place. Try to remember the revision place and practical room.
 Clench your fist – clenching your fist and squeezing it tightly makes it more
easier to memorise numbers and test. If you have forgotten an information,
clench your left fist.
These activate the brain regions that is responsible for storming and recalling
memories.
Learn a new topic before retiring for night sleep. It helps to consoledate memory.
 Say the alphabet – if you forget the name of an author or film or an object.
Read the alphabet, still have in mind what you are looking for, along the
line you will remember as you read the alphabet.
 Say it aloud – when you are looking for something, for instance your car
key that you misplaced, call the name loudly – “Car Key” “Car Key” “Car
Key”, “Wallet” “Wallet” “Wallet” etc. this helps to activate memory.
 Early Education – This is very good. Brain is like unfilled container that
needs to be filled. Try and fill it up with information. The earlier a child
starts school the better, but late starting of school is not good. A child of
Ten (10) to Twelve (12) years starting primary one – the brain has been
occupied with domestic and extra school agenda.
 Supervision and gentle correction – Children should know the importance
of reading and learning. They should be aware of the current things
happening in the society either good or bad. For instance Covid – 19,
Ebola, Lassa Fever, Raping, Boko Haram, Bandits, known gun men and
unknown gun men and other vices.
 Use of Repetition in Teaching – this helps students a lot. Practice as they
say makes perfect.
 Make them to be Computer Literates as early as they can be.
 Breast Feeding is a complete food for your baby. Breast Milk has all the
things that form baby’s brain at the early age. From 0 – 6 months give only
breast milk, no water. If your give water, you dilute the breast milk and it
leads to malnutrition and ill health.
After six months, add pap or any food the baby tolerates and continue
breast feeding till 18 months. Breast fed Babies perform better in school
than artificially fed or mixed fed ones. Take well nourished food and drink
to help you in good lactation for breast milk to flow.
 Test Children limits. You will only know what a child can do if you test
him or her. Allow them to attempt and try somethings. It is ok to protect a
child, but allow them to take risk too under supervision. Allow a child to
crawl, walk little by little to the step under supervision. Over pampering is
not good. Listen to them, give them some books to read. Buy children bible
and picture books. Adult should not be busy body, read books, Bible, Novel
in the presence of your children. They will emulate you. You can even learn
from them.
CHAPTER 6
HOW TO BUILD FETUS INTELLIGENT QUOTIENT AND BRAIN
POWER BEFORE BIRTH.
 Proper Nutrition of the pregnant woman – what a pregnant woman eats and
drink is what forms and builds the fetus brain and other vital organs.
As mentioned above – enough vegetables, fruits and oily fish is very good
for pregnant women among other things. They are good source of Amino –
Acids. Beans, Bananas, Berries, Apple, Walnuts, Avocado Pears, Cherry
(Udara), Tiger Nuts (Ayaya), Okro, Pears, Onions, Pinapples, Mangoes,
Oranges, Guava, Paw Paw, Garden Leaves, Yoghurt, Quail Eggs and
Native Eggs etc. All these are good source of Omega 3 that is very good in
formation of brain cells and making of high Intelligent Quotient.
 Good Environment with good ventilation and free air.
 Good Antenatal clinic and care is very paramount for a pregnant woman.
From the antenatal clinic, the wellbeing of the fetus and mother will be
ensured. Any abnormality will be detected earlier and taken care of. Babies
in the womb starts to hear from six months – talk and sing to your baby in
the womb, pray and bless them. Husbands and relations should not bully or
quarrel pregnant woman. When they cry or shout, the baby hears and some
may decide to die in the womb if they may feel unwanted or they come out
with bad emotion. Say positive words to them. Their angels equally hear
you and establishes what you say and build the gifts and destinies while in
the womb. When they are delivered, they still recognize the calm or harsh
voice that spoke while they are in the womb.
Immediately after delivery, no matter how difficult and had the process of
labour goes, smile, bless and talk to the baby. Look eye to eye at your
baby, carry your baby and put a kiss on the cheek. Pronounce positive word
to him/her. As they grow, continue pronouncing good things to them.
Anything you want to do on baby, tell them. For instance, you take your
bath now , you take or suck breast now. We give you little injection
(Immunization) etc.
You will now know the reason why babies as early as 2 – 4 months knows
their mother’s voice and responds to it. After sometime, they will recognize
and know close relations and reject others. The first sense that develop after
birth is sense of taste, their hearing which has been there in the womb.
We have heard a lot on how to boost and maintain the intelligent quotient
and brain power.
CHAPTER 7
Now we are to talk about the opposite, that is the things that can bring low
Intelligent Quotient and Low Brain function, forgetfulness and other odds that
aged people experience.
Some foods, life styles and habits that kills brain cells and leads to low intelligent
quotient.
 Late breakfast or no breakfast – This is very dangerous to health.
Throughout the night, the nutrient and energy of the brain are drained.
There is a risk of Hypoglycemic and ulcer, with their consequences. It is not
advisable for children under 12 years of age to do fasting from 6am, if it is
so compulsory the child can fast from 12 noon to 6pm as the case may be.
There is a type of fasting that adult can eat in the morning till 12 noon, let
the spirit direct the spiritually filled people. Skipping breakfast is very risky
to the brain both young and old.
 Sleeping with light on – keeping electric bulbs, florescent, lamp, touch on
in the same place of sleeping is bad. It has bad effect on the brain cells. The
same effect that other electric devices has on our cells and brain. Any
person that has brain or mental issue should not learn or be trained as
electrician or its appliances. The person will detoriate the condition.
 Sleeping Position – it is better to sleep on the sides either right or left or
face down with head turn one side, lying on the back with head and face
upwards is very bad and has effect on the brain and cells of the eyes.
 Shaking of the Head – dancers and actors are victims. They are always
shaking their heads during dancing and acting which in later life develop
nervous
 issues. Bathing of new born babies , turning their heads upside down and
shaking the heads is very bad. Using small towels and very hot water to
shake and press the babies skull and head is not good. It can cause problems
even till adulthood. During this period, their tender blood vessels are
fragile, having the tendency to rupture and bleed, which in turn results in
life conditions like convulsion, brain damage, low Intelligent Quotient, dull
brain, mental disorders, epilepsy and death as the case may be.
 Eating of junk foods – what are the junk foods – they are foods that satisfy
our taste and appetite, fill the stomach, but has no nutritional value that
maintain good health. Such food in constant consumption leads to brain
starvation and death of brain cells. A little but junk food may not have
much ill effect. Some examples of junk foods are : Chin Chin, Buns,
Biscuits, Sweets, minerals, Doughnuts, Pop Corn (Worst) because the
process of it can lead to over growth of cells (Cancer) most product of flour
without much ingredient.
 Buying of fried things example Bean Cake (Akara), Plantain, Yam,
Potatoes etc. These food on themselves are not bad, but the frying oil can be
used repeatedly for more than one month – the oil will turn black like coal,
releasing chemicals and radicals that are very bad to the brain cells and
other body cells. If you fry these things use little oil so that your can recycle
it once and discard the little remaining oil.
 Pormo or Canda – this is a very bad thing to our body whether old or
young. It has a chemical that causes over growth of cells in our body and
brain cells. Some over growth can lead to cancer and other bad ailment in
our body. Instead of canda, buy crayfish or other fish incase of poverty.
Many people say they like canda because it is cheap, but the after effect is
very bad.
 Cocaine – taking of cocaine kill brain cells faster than other addictives. It
wipes away brain cells, mostly the pleasure center. Pleasure center is the
part of brain that makes one feel good and have positive emotion.
 Alcohol – taking too much alcohol is not good for health generally. Alcohol
has bad effect on the whole body, but mostly on the brain and livers. How
do you know when you have taken too much alcohol, it is not possible,
people will continue drinking even when they are misbehaving already, the
best is to avoid it. It equally depend on individual, one can become drunk
after one bottle, while one can become drunk after taking up to five bottles
and still not be drunk, but which ever way, alcohol destroys cells and
organs, mostly brain and liver cells.
 Dehydration and insufficient water intake leaves the ions of the brain
disrupted and results in brain damage. Take water always to average.
Drinking too much water at a time is equally bad. If one is thirsty of water,
do not finish a Jerry can of water in a short period. Take small water at a
time. If you take much within a short period, it makes the brain to swell and
die in the process. Theer will be imbalanced in the ratio of water and
sodium which is known as Water Toxicity.
 Smoking of Cigarette and other smokeables – physically, Mentally and
Socially. Smoking is bad health style and endangers life and leads to low
brain activity and poor intelligent Quotient. It stops the brain from
producing new cells. Smoking is the major causes of lung cancer, brain and
blood cancer (Leukemia).
 Micro waving – popcorn and all that follow it. No matter what you are
microwaving, standing or staying close to microwave is not good. Worst to
say – the waves that are leaking kills the brain cells fast. If you must
microwave, check the microwave and be sure it is not leaking.
 All Stain Removers – Paint, Cortex removers, inhaling and sniffing them
eats away the brain cells, it crosses the brain barriers and affect brain
function. Some people now open soak aways and inhale odor of excretal
and rubbish, all these have bad effect to the brain.
 Welding Frames – constant exposure to welding rods fumes causes lung
cancer and damages nerves, and neurons. All those working or learning
welding should take precautions.
 Lack of good and quality sleep: sleeplessness or poor sleeps affects the
brain cell and functions. It also affects learning and social function.
Students who stays awake all night reading (TDB) till day break always
performs bad in examination and tests. It kills the brain cells. If you are
always keeping night vigils, make sure you get compensatory sleeps during
the next day.
 Carbon monoxide- this is bad air from engines like generators, listers and
burning materials and objects. All these deplicts the environment from
natural oxygen and contamination of oxygen kills brain cells.
 Use of cosmetics – certain cosmetics has bad effects on mental health, some
shampoos, relaxers and other chemicals has ill effect on the brain cells. Do
not use harsh relaxers and chemical on under age children hairs and body.
Read the content of some of these chemicals mostly relaxers and shampoos.
 Air Pollution – anything that contaminate the free air we breathe in is
pollution. These include indoors and outdoors air pollution.
Indoor Pollution – inside the house, mostly kitchen – Cookstoves,
Charcoals, Fire Wood, anything that brings excessive smokes, insecticides
and pesticides, (Otapiapia) Sheltox and formaldehydes. Smoking of herbs
and Tobaccos.
 Biological pollution from some animals pets, bacteria, virus, dust, mites and
pollen, flushing of overuse toilet and bulky excrets with little water, the
odor that comes out is polluted air and people around inhale it.
Overcrowded vehicle or room without free ventilation, human being
coughing and passing gas and others inhaling them. All these are bad to
brain cells. Kerosene lamp and gas heater are all good source of carbon
monoxide and pollution, people should stop sleeping in a room with
kerosene lamp or stove as open source of light in the night. The smokes are
dangerous to the lungs and brain.
 Overuse of this pain releaver called oxycodone. It is a strong pain reliever
used mostly for cancer and amputation patients. It kills brain cells, causes
heart problems and damages kidney. Caution should be taken in its
prescription.
 Too much stress – little stress is good for everyone. It keeps one motivate to
plan and active goal. If stress is much and out of hand, it increases the rush
of adrenaline and production of much cortisol that brings brain cells down.
 Any injury that leads to contusion and concussion. Many people goes mad
or develop brain issues after falls, accident that affect brain and hitting the
head in fighting and beatings. These affect the neural part of the brain.
 Taking of Ecstasy – taking a drug or substance (club drugs) to put
musicians and actor in high state, some singers, actors and musicians before
performing. Even some ladies before their wedding used to put drugs inside
their eyes to relieve them from shy or timidity to withstand the occasion or
crowd the ecstasy creates holes in the brain and later lead to brain problem.
 Having stroke of any kind – this results in temporary loss of blood flow to
the brain. When it is severe, several blood vessels burst and bleeding occurs
in the brain Cerebral Vascular Accident (CVA). Someone recover after
unconscious with paralysis and severe ones feels the entire brain and death
ensures any type of stroke leads to brain issues people should always check
their blood pressure, sugar level and lipid profile test to avoid such ugly
things like stroke.
 Lack of exercise – this reduce the flow of blood and nutrients to the brain
and lead to early brain cell death and poor brain function. Mild and
moderate exercise is good for brain and mental health.
 Drugs that elevate Testosterone level has bad effect on brain cells most men
likes to perform longer and higher. They go on taking drugs like Viagra,
proviron and sustanion in excess. They have bad effect on the brain cells.
Please be careful. Take natural foods that elevates or meet your professional
medical personnel.
 Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy – these are procedures used on cancer
patients. They reduces the excessive growth of cancerous cells and
adversely leads to mental problems and confusion to alleviate this is to give
supplement to suppress its effect. The best thing is to avoid predisposing
factors to cancer by – engaging in healthy lifestyles, eating fruits and
vegetables, exercises take serious precautions and early intervention and
detection. For instance, if one is from the kindred that one or two people
have had cancer, you need to be careful. A young lady that the grandmother
had or siblings had either breast or cervic cancer should see an oncology
and gynaecologist, may be advises to remove her breast anytime from 20 or
25 years. Then do cervical smear every 6 months or once in a year. If
anything is suspected, action should be taken immediately – total or sub –
total hysterectomy should be carried out.
 Head injury of any kind – from falls, beating, accidents, sports as in boxers
etc. many of them end up in head injuries which later in life result in
psychiatric cases.
 Chronic negative thinkers – those that always think negatively mostly
develop mental problem. Negative thinking is an indirect killer. They result
in taking substances to elevate their mood ; thereby harming their brain
cells. It is better to think positively and have a focus.
 A very stressful event – one big stressful event can kill many brain cells and
lead to mental disorders and psychiatric problems. One should learn to cope
with stress and live a “Ba Kwomi” Life.
 Extreme anxiety and panic – anxiety in the highest will release steroid and
cortisol. Those substances kill brain cells fast, even lead to premature and
sudden death, else prayers and diversional therapy to follow bad situations.
 Food addictives and highly processed food – these contains exotoxins.
Exotoxins slow and destroy cognitive development in the brain, eating
natural and fresh food is the best for young and old.
 Having a condition called Narcolepsy – Narcolepsy is characterized by
excessive daytime sleeping and uncontrollably falling asleep at random.
This condition kills the hypocretin (brain cells which are located in the
hypocampus). People that have Narcolepsy are very low in intelligent
Quotient and brain activities. There are various treatment for it now.
 Use of ketamine – this is a common type of Anasthesia, it prevents brain
cells from picking Glutamate. This glutamate is a protein essential for
communication and survival. Ketamine is used in the theatre as a general
anaesthesia. It knocks off patient to unconsciousness of various stage. In
those days, many patients does not wake up after surgery. From
unconsciousness they pass on. The cause is ketamine, Thank God the use is
limited today.
 Laughing Jar Gas (Nitrous Oxide) this is seen mostly in chemistry labs and
dental offices. When one inhales it at the process of practical, the person
starts laughing uncontrollably. Constant inhaling and over use lead to brain
damage and mental problems. Its use should be reduced and with
precaution.
CHAPTER 8
General note, I want to tell us some other dangerous and killer foods to avoid or
minimized.
 White sugar, white salt, white floor and caffeine; too much meat and milk, pork
meat and much chicken meat. Sugar is good for nothing food that people abuse
much in expense of their health. Remember that one bottle of mineral contains
eight cubes of sugar or 5 spoon of granulated sugar. Most Kunu’s and other
drinks were constituted with sugar. We should be very careful what we push
into our body. Sugar is the first class thing in immunity reduction and
suppressing, and kills brain cells. Any family that takes a lot of white sugar,
their children are always in the group of low intelligent quotient and poor
results. They are always prone to infections like boils and other bacteria
infections.
 White salt – this is another killer thing that people abuse. Most of the foods we
eat, mostly vegetables has natural salt in them. The use of table salt in meals
pose a lot of problem to our bodies and system. All canned and processed foods
has salt in high dose and should be minimized or completely avoided. Anyone
who is still taking canned beef raw is inviting so many things. If at all use it to
cook rice without adding another salt. Salt and its product are responsible for
hypertension, and its complications, kidney stones, stomach cancer,
complications of congestive heart failures, cirrhosis of the lives and
osteoporosis. We recommend fruits and vegetable diet for hypertensive
patients.
 White floor – this is another dangerous killer food. Floor is made from wheat
wheat on itself is not too good for some blood groups. Most products of floor
and wheat has some ill effect on the brain cells. Much junk food we take are
products of floor. Avoid most products of floor to avoid much ill health and
lowered immunity. Natural food example fruits, vegetables, cereals and grains
in fresh manner is the best for our body mostly the vital organs of which brain
is among.
Summary for now on this book, we should look back small on ancient road mostly
on our lifestyle, diet and nutrition. Complete breast feeding mostly the first six
months. Our farm products should be consumed fresh and valued. We should stop
exporting our products to be processed and we now by them as foreign foods with
a lot of chemical added to them when we buy and eat, we buy things that invite
low Intelligent Quotient, Hypertention, Cancer, High and Low Prolactin,
Infertility, Dementia and its likes. Thus leading to a generation of low performance
and social vices.
