The aims and objectives of teaching Geography at the

Secondary level :

(1) To enable the pupils to acquire a knowledge of natural resources.

(2) To develop in pupils an understanding of how environment and climatic


factors have influenced our life.

(3) To help the pupils to acquire knowledge of their physical and social
environment and thus to broaden their outlook.

(4) To develop in them an understanding of basic concepts, principles and


theories relating to geographical phenomena.

(5) To train the pupils in nature study.

(6) To develop the power of thinking, reasoning, memory and power of


imagination of pupils.

(7) To enable the pupils to appreciate the natural beauty

(8) To adjust human life in accordance with geographical circumstances.

(9) To develop scientific attitude and to develop the ability to draw valid
conclusions and independent thinking.

(10) To analyze the ways of life of all the people all over the world.

(11) To develop an appreciation of interdependence of various geographical


regions.

In fact, Geography today is a combination of art and science. Its scope and
study is broad and comprehensive. Geography has well established itself as a
science.
The aims and objectives of teaching Political Science at the
Secondary level :
 To develop understanding about the structure and process of government,
citizenship and forms of political participation, and the public policy process.
 To provide the information about the social arrangement to maintain peace and
order.
 To develop democratic values
 To develop ability to analyze political system and behavior.
 Gain an understanding and appreciation of current political issues and concerns
and their impact upon the contemporary political environment.
 Develop the ability to research, analyze, and evaluate political data and
information and the ability to use information databases.
 Develop the ability to communicate effectively and clearly in written and oral
form.
 Understand the requirements of effective and virtuous citizenship.
