Pot Life

Brilliant H2180 / A75 mixed adhesive has a pot life of more than 8 hours when stored properly. Usage of
mixed adhesive beyond its pot life could cause lamination defects and is not recommended.

Recommended Operating Conditions

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

1. The adhesive and hardener must be mixed and diluted in accordance with the dilution table above.
Recommended application solids range from 25% to 40% solids.
2. Please discuss coating cylinder specifications with our Technical Service representatives for more advice and
guidelines.
3. The dry adhesive deposit applied may range from 1.5 to 4.0 g/m². Laminates requiring higher heat and chemical
resistance will require higher dry adhesive deposit weights.
4. For printed films the application weight has to be adjusted accordingly and should be around 1 g/m² higher than
for unprinted films. Films should be printed with inks suitable for lamination.
5. All polyolefin films must be treated to a minimum level of 38 to 40 dynes / cm prior to lamination
6. Variables including line speed, drying tunnel temperatures, air flow rate and recirculation should be monitored
closely to ensure complete removal of all solvents.
7. Tension controls must also be precise and care must be taken to ensure that the tension of the substrates are
adjusted so that the stretch of the substrates is equal, thereby ensuring no curling or tunneling of the laminate.
8. Conditions at the laminating nip are extremely important to ensure healthy lamination. Adequate temperature
and pressure considering the laminate structure must be maintained.
9. Initial bond immediately off the laminator is good. Within 12 to 24 hours the bond strength will be sufficient for
further processing, such as slitting and rewinding.
10. Optimal heat and chemical resistance will develop within 5 - 10 days at ambient conditions.
11. Recommended cleaning solvents are Ethyl Acetate or other suitable organic solvents like MEK.

Brilliant H2180 / A75 is in compositional compliance with US FDA 21 CFR 175.105. Under specific conditions of
the FDA, EC and BfR regulations, the adhesive Brilliant H2180 / A75 is suitable for manufacture of packaging
materials for packing of food. It must be noted that the solvent must be completely evaporated during drying
and that the adhesive must be allowed to cure completely. Further, exact end use conditions like substrates,
inks and other additives, and end product to be packed in the packaging material are unknown to us. Hence, it
is the customer’s responsibility to ensure compliance of the packaging material to all norms and regulations.

Disclaimer & Other Information

Laminating conditions like temperatures and pressure, application method and dry adhesive deposit, films and
substrates used, and film additives like slip additive, packed goods, printing inks, pre-treatment and coating of
films are of significant importance to the performance properties of the laminated packaging materials.
Therefore, laminating tests as well as proper checks on the laminates are necessary before going into full-scale
production.

The Information provided in this data sheet, especially recommendations for the usage and the application of
our products, is based on our knowledge and experience. Due to varying working conditions beyond our
control we strictly recommend comprehensive trials to test the suitability of our products with regard to the
required end-use application. We do not accept any liability with regard to the above information.
