Re: Progress Reports on traffic jam

1- INTRODUCTION

1.1 Purpose

I propose to research and produce a state of the art report on the traffic jam to stop accidents,
pollution and waste of time.

1.2 Background

Cairo is considered as a largest city in Africa, it also expected that the traffic will be major
issue to deal with. There are at least 18 million people live in Cairo in addition of 3500
newborns added to this number each day. Logically it’s not all 18 million people have car but
the nature of streets are clogged because of the traffic (stop- go). It’s difficult to discern any
particular rules of the road because there are many streets are one way not always this rule is
working. It’s known that red light mean “stop” or “slowdown” and green light “walk” light mean it
’s safe to cross the road, but it’s not necessarily to believe in that, the drivers are increasing
the speed to get through red traffic light with horns blaring to stop anyone who might consider
getting in their way. Sometimes they are driving over the pavements; the only thing that forces
the driver to stop is no possible way to squeeze around.

Even though Egypt have a despite schemes of modernization in many parts of Cairo, donkey-
carts are still a prominent feature in many streets and they manage their way through traffic
with their own system but what an incredible thing is many cars do the same, in addition they
use the lane of oncoming traffic when their own lane are full.
More than 7000 people per year have been killed and wound nearly 35,000 causes of road
fatalities as experts mentioned, so will we reach to limit the number of vehicles. It’s obviously
now that Cairo is crumbling under the twin pressure of traffic and population.
1.3 Scope
My research project will focus primarily on known streets in Cairo, which suffer from poor traffic management and
has no safety on the road areas with poor road infrastructure.
This status report provides my current assessment of the project as of June 12, 2010. The statement of
work
included the following tasks:
Task 1 :Start by expanding public roads. (3 years)
Task 2 :Exploitation of wasted land in Egypt and urban expansion in this area. (2 years)
Task 3 :Increase public buses and pay attention to traffic facilities and road infrastructure. (year)
Task 4 :Extend residents’ parking zones.(2 years)

2.Status
2.1 TASKS COMPLETED
Task 1 : successfully completed this review on May 12, 2013 without any problems.
Task 2 : successfully completed this review on May 12, 2013 without any problems.Initially
some areas do not have infrastructure and population density
2.2 TASKS REMAINING
Task 3 : not completed ,and will complete this task by July 9, 2012.
Task 4 : already drafted about half of this task and will complete ,will work on this task in parallel with task
3 and will deliver the finished state of the report as scheduled on June 12, 2013

3. CONCLUSION
3.1 ASSESSMENT
Most of the tasks have been completed in time. Some of the tasks that I am working hard to accomplish in
the specified time remain some of the problems that will be solved successively The balance of task 2
and 3 should be completed by July 9, 2012 , After that i will complete task 4
the final deliverable state of the art report, and i will deliver it as required by June 12, 2013.
