‘Habs’ is a drama series which are being aired on ARY Digital and is just about to end very
soon. It would be having 35 episodes from which 30 episodes are already broadcasted.
Theme
Story revolves around 2 lead characters (male and female) and their family. The young female
lead character belongs to a middle class family of a single mother who has 3 daughters and a
sister-in-law. All are young and unmarried, living in a home. On the other hand, male lead
character is a rich responsible person who is going from trauma of abandonment since his
childhood.
This story is a plot driven drama series, not character driven. Mother of female lead character
holds the most negative character. She is portrayed as greedy, selfish and thankless mother who
has nothing else to do other than money seeking. She alone has raised her daughters but remain
unable to become an emotionally intelligent mother and train them too to become one. Mother
doesn’t want her daughters to get married or want them to only get married in case of having a
rich man. Almost all the female characters are shown as negative except 2, that too have a lot of
loopholes.
The drama is being perceived by audience as a mild romantic story of a married couple who has
ups and downs. In the context of this light hearted entertainment, the subliminal messages which
are being instilled are as follows:
In media there is an explicit way of showing an action on the other hand, an implicit way.
Mother’s character is in extremely explicit and exaggerated manner that she never let the chance
lose, to pity, demean and put down her own daughters. She never appreciates them even when
they are responsibly contributing in the matters, even in which they are not supposed to do.
Honestly saying, I have seen parents being selfish and greedy. Some parents exist who considers
their child’s (be it girl or boy) entity as no more than a money making machine. I would say this
situation is being made. 2 decades ago circumstances was not like that.
Women are the soul of a society whereas men are apparent body of society. If the soul is
suffering from crises, diseases and corruption body would never become able to reach its highest
levels. For body to achieve highest levels soul must be taken care on daily basis should be out of
corruption.
Mere Hamsafar
Drama series ‘Mere Humsafar’ had been aired on ARY Digital. The story revolves around a girl
and a boy facing challenges of their own life. Her father left her at paternal house where she is
mistreated. Later, her cousin returns from abroad and marries her and gives her the respect she
always needed. She was mistreated by her Tai Jan (paternal aunt/uncle's wife) her whole life. Her
cousin (and now husband) gave her respect and love.
Negative role
Paternal aunt of leading female character is the most negative character in the drama. She always
mistreats her, considering her as an enemy of economy because she is a girl. Later on, mother
fears as if his son would be taken away by the girl, if they would get married.
There is no doubt humans who exploit other humans does exist but targeting a specific entity of
society is purposely being done by media. Men globally and naturally made as protectors and
maintainers by god. Western media has named it as savior complex. To be very honest our desi
culture has crossed this concept over the level of nature. No doubt man should be saving and
protecting women from evils of society but this is reality of our society that it had made its
women disabled and useless entity, and media is making it even more.
Final words
Women are the soul of a society whereas men are apparent body of society. If the soul is
suffering from crises, diseases and corruption body would never become able to reach its highest
levels. For body to achieve highest levels soul must be taken care on daily basis should be out of
corruption. Our entertainment industry is perfectly working on agenda ‘Divide and Rule’
