What are port charges? Port taxes are the fees that shipping operators and their clients pay
to port authorities for the use of port facilities and/or services.
To answer the first question, the dock is charged by the port facility to the shipping company
from where the vessels dock and set sail, which is accompanied by pilotage and tugboat
activities that are the exclusive responsibility of the shipping company.
• Shipping company is the operator of the ship take charge of all operational activities such as
documentaries as well as other associated charges of the ship.

Now in port is where the goods are sent or received, these are charged to the freight
forwarder (freight agent) this according to the INCOTERM modality that the cargo has.

• Freight Agent acts as an intermediary between the shipper or sender and a provider of
transportation services.
