A long cylinder of inner diameter 80 mm and outside diameter 120 mm snugly fit in a hole
1. over its full length. The cylinder is then subjected to an internal pressure pf 2 MPa. Using [10 M]
two elements on the 10 mm length as shown in figure below, find the displacements at the
inner radius.

2. A metallic fin having thermal conductivity 360 W/m.0C is 0.1 cm thick and 10 cm long. It
extends from a place wall whose temperature is 235 0C. Determine the temperature [10 M]
distribution and amount of heat transferred from the fin to air at 20 0C with convective heat
transfer coefficient as 9 W/m2. 0C. Take the width of the fin to be 1 m.

3. Determine the eigenvalues and corresponding eigenvectors for the stepped bar shown in
figure below. Draw the mode shapes for the two natural frequencies evaluated from the [10 M]
calculated eigenvalues.
