INTRODUCTION

This instruction manual is a guidebook to properly operate the Barcode Reader for KANBAN

(KT10).

This manual explains how to operate the machine and the important operational points along

with the operating procedures. Therefore, this manual will be useful for those who operate

the KT10 for the first time and experienced users to reconfirm their knowledge. Before

operating the KT10, thoroughly read this manual to fully understand its contents and always

operate the KT10 in correct and safe manner. When operating the KT10, it is recommended

to always put this instruction manual in a place near the machine where all concerned

personnel can refer to it immediately.

Various kinds of optional units to extend the functions are provided on the KT10.

When using these optional units mounted on the KT10, thoroughly read this instruction

manual, as well as the instruction manuals supplied with the optional units.

When using the Barcode Reader for KANBAN (KT10) mounted on the Automatic Cutting and

Crimping Machine (AC80-series), thoroughly read this instruction manual, as well as the

instruction manual for AC80-series.

The design and specifications of the KT10 are subject to change without prior notice due to

continual upgrading and improvement. Therefore, the contents of this instruction manual

may slightly vary from the details of the actual machine you have purchased. If you have

any question about the machine you have purchased or contents of this instruction manual,

please do not hesitate to contact your local sales dealer.

Important Read This Instruction Manual Prior to Use.

(1) Safety
Proper operation and periodic maintenance are absolutely required to safely operate the Barcode

Reader for KANBAN (KT10). Thoroughly read the safety precautions stated in this instruction

manual to fully understand its contents before starting the work.

The safety precautions explained in this instruction manual are applicable only to the operating

procedures described herein. If the customer uses the KT10 in a way different from that described

in this instruction manual, the customer shall be held responsible for all safety considerations.

Never attempt to disassemble, reassemble, or modify the machine without prior written permission.

Doing so may cause the machine not to be operated at its optimal operating level or may cause a

serious trouble and/or accident.

The items with these marks describe the important contents. Therefore, carefully read such

instructions and strictly observe them.

Special Care Should Be Taken When You Use KT10.

DANGER

1. Electric leak may cause an electric shock.

Make sure that the power cable is connected firmly.

Connect the grounding cable to the machine and take appropriate measures so that the

grounding cable is not disconnected.

Do not operate the machine with wet hands.

2. Electric shock hazard exists since a high-voltage/high-current power supply is mounted

inside the electric equipment box.

Never open the electric component box without shutting down of the circuit breaker of the

main power source and the main circuit breaker of the power supply source.

Special Care Should Be Taken When You Use KT10.

WARNING

1. To ensure the optimal performance and safe operation of the machine, do not install the

machine in a place where;

1) Hazardous or explosive materials exist.

2) An open flame exists.

3) It is exposed to the direct sunlight.

4) A large amount of dust or dirt exists.

5) A strong vibration exists.

6) The atmospheric humidity is high.

2. If a cable is connected to signals other than those stated in the specification, this may

cause the machine to malfunction. Always connect the cables to the signals specified in

the instruction manual.

3. Do not operate the machine in a work environment other than that specified in the

following.

as malfunction of the machine

Special Care Must be Taken When You Use KT10.

CAUTION

1. Keep the machine away from high voltage sources, large current sources, and large

power relays.

2. If any accident, trouble, or faulty product arises resulting from modification or change of

the machine made by the customer, the customer shall be held responsible to take

appropriate measures against such troubles.

3. When the customer asks to repair any defective part of the machine, the customer shall

restore the parts, which have been changed and/or modified by the customer, to their

original conditions.

4. Any request to modify the machine, which has been changed and/or modified by the

customer, shall not be accepted. In this case, the customer shall be held responsible to

take appropriate measures.

1. General description of Barcode Reader for KANBAN (KT10)
1.1. Overview

This barcode reader model KT10 is designed to read barcodes printed on KANBANs. The AC main

unit can perform the production with pre-registered data corresponding to the barcodes, which have

been read.

2. Operation

CAUTION
Before starting the operation of the machine, thoroughly read the contents stated in the

section, “Special Care Must be Taken When You Use KT10.”.

2.1. Connected with AC81

2.1.1. Reading KANBAN

(1) Read KANBAN on the “Production Operation Monitor” screen.

(2) When reading barcodes on KANBANs using the barcode reader, the assignment No. data

corresponding to the barcode is added from the production instruction master to the production

instruction data.

(3) When the barcode is read correctly, the following message will appear.

(The message will disappear after 1 sec. has elapsed.)

(4) If the KANBAN barcode without assignment No. corresponding to the production instruction

master is read, the following message will appear.

2.1.2. Selecting production instruction data

Data corresponding to the KANBAN barcode, which has been read, is added to the last production

instruction data.

Normally, the production is performed in the order of the production instruction data. However, to

precede the production for the data corresponding to the KANBAN code, which has been read,

follow the steps below.

(1) Click .

(2) The Production Instruction Data Selection screen will appear. Click a production No. of desired

production data to select, and then click .

2.1.3. Deleting all of production instruction data

Every time the KANBAN code is read, the production instruction data is added.

Delete all of production instruction data before starting the work.

(1) Click on the Production Instruction Data Selection screen.

(2) The Production Instruction Data Edit screen will appear. Click .

(3) The following message will appear. Click the [OK] button.

(4) The following message will appear when the screen is returned to the Production Operation

Monitor screen after all data lines have been deleted. Click the [OK] button.

2.2. Connected with AC10

2.2.1. Reading KANBAN

(1) Read KANBAN on the "Production Operation Monitor" screen.

(2) When reading barcodes on KANBANs using the barcode reader, the assignment No. data

corresponding to the barcode is added from the production instruction master to the production

instruction data.

(3) When the barcode is read correctly, the following message will appear.

(The message will disappear automatically after 1 sec. has elapsed.)

4) If the KANBAN barcode without assignment No. corresponding to the production instruction

master is read, the following message will appear.

2.2.2. Changing production instruction data

In the AC10, the production instruction data read from the floppy disk drive or network and the

production instruction data corresponding to the KANBAN code, which has been read, are controlled

separately.

(1) Click [Record No.].

Click [Mode] to change to the KANBAN mode.

2.2.3. Selecting production instruction data

Data corresponding to the KANBAN barcode, which has been read, is added to the last production

instruction data.

Normally, the production is performed in the order of the production instruction data. However, if it

is required to start the production for the data corresponding to the KANBAN code, which has been

read, select data with [Forward], [Back], [Top], [Search], or [Record No.] on the "Monitor" screen.

2.2.4. Deleting all of production instruction data

Every time the KANBAN code is read, the production instruction data is added.

Follow the steps below to delete all of production instruction data before starting the work.

(1) Click the [Record No.] button on the "Monitor" screen.

(2) Click [Delete] on the "Record No." screen.

(3) Press the [Enter] key to return to the "Monitor" screen.

(4) When the screen is returned to the "Monitor" screen after all of data have been deleted, the

"Monitor" screen is shown as described below.
