Dear Colleagues,

We are excited to invite you to participate in the Zonal Conference: Indian Association of
Surgical Oncology which will be held from 10th & 11th December 2022 at AIIMS Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
This event is organized by the Department of Surgical Oncology, AIIMS Jodhpur, in association
with Suncity Surgeons Society and the Indian Association of Surgical Oncology (IASO).

Jodhpur was historically the capital of the “Kingdom of Marwar”. It is a popular tourist destination
featuring many palaces, forts, and temples, set in the stark landscape of the Thar Desert. It is
popularly known as the "Blue City" among the people of Rajasthan and all over India.

The theme of the conference is “Cancer Care: Engage-Empower-Evolve”, wherein we plan to

conduct a Preconference: Live Surgery Workshop followed by a scientific extravaganza. The live
th
surgery workshop on 9 December 2022 (Friday) will feature common cancers like thyroid, parotid
tumours, breast cancer and colorectal cancer by eminent oncosurgeons. Highlights of live surgery
will be Robotic-Low anterior resection, Oncoplastic breast surgery/ Breast Conservation Surgery/
SLNB with ICG Fluorescence Technique in breast cancer, preservation of RLN and parathyroids in
thyroid surgery etc. In addition, the live surgery aims to improve surgical skills and will include a
demonstration of excellent oncological dissection, tips & tricks, and interactive and open
discussion between delegates and expert operating surgeons.

The conference will feature renowned National Speakers in the field from various parts of the
country.

The scientific sessions will focus on Cancers of the Head & Neck, Breast, Upper GI, HPB, Colorectal,
and peritoneal surface malignancies, which will have lectures, debates, panel discussions, MDT
sessions, oral, poster and video presentations etc. This conference will be a huge opportunity for all
the faculties, consultants, residents and trainees involved or interested in cancer care.

◦ The first 50 Junior/Senior Trainees who have registered for the conference and submitted abstracts
will get complementary accommodations on a shared stay basis in AIIMS Guest House/ Hotel Teeja’s AIIMS
Road, Jodhpur or other hotels in the vicinity.

The abstracts can be submitted for the following topics under the listed sections.

Abstract Submission Guidelines:

1. Registration is mandatory for all delegates, including those presenting posters /papers. (Registration should be
done separately)
2. The work/Research/Abstract should be related to oncology, including surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy,
immunotherapy, palliative care etc.
3. Summaries of new, ongoing and updated research (Original work, Case report, hypothesis, good quality review, preliminary
data, and thesis work) will be acceptable for submission and presentation.
4. Inappropriately structured or incomplete abstracts will not be accepted.
5. An abstract may not contain any illustrations or images. However, one table can be submitted if crucial to judge the quality of
the abstract.
6. Scientific Committee will upgrade the best Poster from each relevant category for Oral Presentation, and the
corresponding author will be appropriately informed.
7. There will be a separate award category for each section for the Senior Trainees (MCh/DM/DNB residents) and Junior
Trainees (MS General Surgery/ ENT/ MD Radiation Oncology)
8. Presenting author is to be highlighted in bold and underlined.
9. The abstract author will be notified by email about its acceptance and other details.
10. Accepted presenters must adhere to deadlines and guidelines and promptly respond to communication.
11. Use the Font type Times new roman and Font Size 11/12
12. The Abstract written should not exceed 500 words.
13. The abstract should contain the following subtitles.
a. Introduction
b. Aims & Adjectives
c. Materials & Methods
d. Results
e. Conclusion
14. The video presenter should have been part of the operating team, and the primary operating surgeon should be a co-author
for the abstract. The abstract should mention the details of the video, such as the Introduction (why the video is being
presented), Method (what the procedure is), and Conclusion.

Abstract
Abstract Selection and Formats
• Review: Abstracts submitted for presentation will be reviewed by a panel of experts in the field of the subject and
will be judged solely on the data submitted. The final decision on the presentation format of all selected abstracts
lies at the sole discretion of the Scientific Committee. The following presentation formats are applicable.
• Oral presentation: Abstracts of superior quality can be selected for presentation in a session where discussants
will place the research findings into perspective. The scientific committee reserves the right to assign an abstract
for oral presentation to a poster presentation.
• Poster presentation: All the posters will be displayed as e-Poster. A specific time will be assigned wherein the
judges will assess the poster based on content, presentation, etc.
• Video Presentation: Video presenter should have been part of the operating team, and the main operating
surgeon should be co-author for the abstract. The abstract should mention the details of the video such as:
Introduction (why the video is being presented), Method (what the procedure is), and Conclusion.

The presenting author will receive a letter with the result of the review and the Scientific Committee’s decision on the
abstract.

Abstract Submission:
• Step‐by‐step instructions will be provided within the submission system. Submitters can edit their abstracts
until the deadline.
• An e‐mail confirming receipt of the abstract submitted online will be sent to the presenting author within 48
hours. An abstract number will be allocated and should be mentioned for any queries relating to the submitted
abstract.
• Abstract Submission Fee: There is no abstract submission fee. However, the presenter has to register for the
conference.
