How to talk about personality types


Session 1
1. Egoist: Me First. Thinking only about me.
2. Egotist: the height of conceit. Boasting/ Talk about you only, what you think, what you have done,
how good you are, how would you solve the problems, etc.
3. Altruist: let me help you, welfare of others before own.
4. Introvert: leave me alone. You may be unsocial, shy and quiet, you are often moody ad unhappy and
prefer solitude. Aptitude for creative work, you may even be a genius. Inward.
5. Extrovert: let’s do it together. Generally happy, full of high spirits, love to be with people – lots of
people. Outward.
6. Ambivert: neither extreme. Both introvert and extrovert tendencies. Interests both inward and
outward – balanced.
7. Misanthrope: people are no good. Hate humanity. Suspicious and hate and angry on everyone.
8. Misogynist: women are no good. Hate all women.
9. Misogamist: “marriage is an institution - and who wants to live in an institution?”. Dislike of or
aversion to marriage.
10. Ascetic: severe self-discipline and abstention from all forms of indulgence, typically for religious
reasons. A Sadhu

Session 2
1. Egocentric: you consider yourself at the centre of the universe, an extreme form of the egoist.
2. Egomaniac/ egomaniacal: you carry egoism to such an extent that your needs, desires and interests
have become a morbid (bad) obsession, a mania.
3. Latin, ego: I (Self). Egoist, egotist (t for TALK/ Boasting ego), egocentric & egomaniac/ egomaniacal.
The egoist or egotist is obnoxious (extremely unpleasant), egocentric is intolerable and the
egomaniac is dangerous and slightly mad.
4. Altruism: the philosophy practised by altruist. disinterested and selfless concern for the well-being
of others.
5. Altruistic: Actions took towards the benefit of others.
6. Alternate: You skip one and take the other. Alternate Saturdays.
7. Alternative: you have no alternative meaning no other choice.
8. Alteration: a change- making into something other.
9. Altercation: heated argument because you have other ideas. Violent disagreement. It is stronger
than quarrel or dispute.
10. Alter ego: Refers to another person who is same as you, you do the same things, think alike, react
similarly, almost mirror images of each other. Any such friend is other I (Me) or alter ego.
11. Alter: “When you alter your plans, you make other plans”
12. Latin, alter: other. Altruist, altruism, alternate, alternative, to alter, alteration, altercation & alter
ego.

Session 3
1. Latin, verto: to turn.
2. Introvert: thoughts turned inwards (intro), outward (extro) and in both direction (ambi).
3. Ambidextrous: able to use both hands with equal skill
4. Dexterous: skilful
5. Latin, dexter: right hand.
6. Sinister: evil, threatening and dangerous. In Latin, Sinister means left hand.
7. French, droit: right hand.
8. Adroit: skilful, but especially in the exercise of mental facilities
9. French, gauche: left hand.
10. Gauche (GOSH), gaucherie: socially awkward person, clumsy. Gaucherie: awkward, clumsy way of
handling situations/ embarrassing way of saying things.
* Adroitness is opposite of gaucherie
11. Greek, misein: to hate. Misogynist: Greek gyne: woman, Misogamist: Greek gamos: marriage,
Misanthrope: Greek anthrope: mankind.
12. Anthropology: study of the development of human race.
13. Philanthropist: one who loves mankind and does charity by devoting time, money and energy.
14. Gynaecologist: medical specialist to female disorders. (gyne/ gynae: woman)
15. Monogamy/ monandry /monogyny, Bigamy and Polygamy: One, two and many marriages. (gamos:
marriage)
16. Polygamy/ polygyny: One man having multiple wives.
17. Polyandry: One woman multiple husbands.
18. Ascetic: living life of a monk. Greek asketes: monk/ hermit. Adjective: ascetism.
Ending -ous suffix: common adjective suffix (famous, dangerous, perilous, etc.)
Ending -ity suffix: common noun suffix (vanity, quality, simplicity, etc.)
Ending -ist suffix: common person suffix (monogamist, Gynaecologist, Philanthropist, etc.)
Ending -y suffix: noun: common practice/ attitude suffix (monogamy, Gynaecology, Philanthropy,
etc.)
Ending -ous/ -ic suffix: common adjective suffix (monogamous, Gynaecological, Philanthropic, etc.)

How to talk about doctors


Session 4
1. Internist: (General physician) To find out what ails you and why, this specialist gives you a thorough
physical tests: blood tests, X-Ray, cardiogram, etc.
2. Gynaecologist: Doctor for female reproductive disorders
3. Obstetrician: (having a baby?) Specialist who delivers babies and takes care of mother during and
after pregnancy. Adjective: obstetric or obstetrical.
4. Pediatrician: Doctor for babies.
5. Dermatologist: Doctor for skin.
6. Ophthalmologist: Doctor for eyes.
7. Orthopedist/ Orthopaedist: Doctor for bones. Can treat musculoskeletal conditions. Orthopedic
surgeons also treat musculoskeletal conditions but they can perform surgeries when necessary as
well.
8. Cardiologist: Doctor for heart and circulatory system.
9. Neurologist: Doctor for brain, spinal cord and rest of nervous system.
10. Psychiatrist: Doctor for emotional and mental disturbances using drugs or group psychotherapy.

Session 5
1. Latin, internus: inside. Internist and internal are derived from internus.
2. Greek, logos: science. Hence, gynaecology: science of women.
3. Latin, obstetrix: midwife. Midwifes helped in delivery of babies, so, Obstetrician is derived from it.
4. Ending -ician suffix: means expert. Musician, Obstetrician, electrician, magician, etc.
5. Greek, paidos: child + iatreia: medical healing + -ician: expert = Pediatrician.
6. Paediatrics: healing of a children. Adjective: Paediatric.
7. Pedagogy: leading of a child/ principles and methods of teaching. Adjective: pedagogic/ pedagogical
paidos: child, agogos: leading.
8. Pedagogue: narrow minded teacher, strait-laced, old-fashioned and dogmatic. Earlier it meant only
children’ teacher but its meaning deteriorated.
9. Demagogue: a political leader who (mislead people) seeks support by exploiting to the desires and
prejudices of ordinary people rather than by using rational argument. Like Pedagogue, the meaning
of Demagogue also deteriorated earlier it meant leader (agogos) of the people (demos).
Demagoguery: Noun, Demagogical/ Demagogic: Adjective.
10. Latin, pedis: foot. Pedestal, Pedal and pedestrian are derived from pedis and don’t have any
connection with paidos, even though the words have -Ped.
