Evidence of competence in English

All applicants for whom English is not a native language will be asked to provide evidence of their competence in English.

Information on your eligibility for this requirement, as well as acceptable tests and scores, can be found in our Competence in English
(https://www.postgraduate.study.cam.ac.uk/international/competence-english) section.

If you do not have evidence of your competence in English at the point of application, you can apply for your course and provide the
evidence at the later stage, unless your Department specifically asks for the language test at the application stage. Note that the Master of
Law (LLM), and Master of Corporate Law (MCL) require early submission of a language test. Please check the specific course webpage
(http://staging.2020.postgraduate.study.admin.cam.ac.uk/courses) for your course to find the minimum language scores you are required
to meet.

Please note that there can sometimes be long waiting times for a Language Test place, so you should make arrangements to take a test as
soon as possible, and to allow time for a retest should one be required.

If you have a valid, acceptable language test report please upload images or scans of your test reports ensuring the following information is
included:

IELTS

Test Report Form (TRF) number

The scores for each element.

TOEFL

Registration Number
Date of birth
The scores for each element.

Please note we DO NOT process test reports sent to us directly from IELTS or TOEFL.

The test report and results can be uploaded via the Applicant Portal (https://apply.graduate.study.cam.ac.uk/applicant/login?
dswid=-7757) before you submit your application. We verify these results using online verification services. You will be able to provide the
test report at the later stage as well if the language condition forms a part of your conditional offer.

It is not possible to combine language test certificates; you must meet the minimum requirements for all elements in the same sitting.
