‘Today is another day, I think to myself as I sit at my kitchen table, a hot cup of coffee beside half-
finished breakfast. Another normal, calm simple morning as I tally another weekday of work in my long
list of lines. I stare at my phone mindlessly, scrolling through various social media apps that I cycle
through during my free time. ‘Wednesday’, it reads. June 30, 2032.

I signed in on my Facebook account. I saw three hundred fifty notifications and twenty-two messages.
Nothing’s new. My Facebook is always this action-packed ever since. But one notification caught my
attention.

Pictures of smiling faces, maroon robes, and paper being held up. Diplomas. Maroon Togas. Graduation
day. It’s one of those Facebook Memories that pop up once in a while. Sometimes, random insignificant
parts of random memories.

And every time I recall all the things that had happened during those times, I can’t help but smile, a
smile that brings sumptuous memories of my life. Memories from my college life and most of all my
unforgettable high school life…”Ano na kaya itsura nila ngayon?”

My thoughts were suddenly interrupted as a familiar face wedged my interest in one of the Facebook
advertisements. A tantalizing picture of a handsome guy encouraging everyone to take good care of our
mental health. It is KURT YAP, the famous international model, influencer, and celebrity psychiatrist
who bagged millions of dollars for different product endorsements and appearances. Wow! He is a
Hollywood sensation.

As I continue to browse my Newsfeed, I came across a series of ICON videos. First is ALLAN ETONG. A
computer programmer by profession who became famous for his first disposable mobile phone. The
second is CHRISTIAN DALE RIVERA, BS IT graduate of Saint Luis University. His escapades during junior
and senior high school days just to play Mobile Legends paid off when he became the two-time World
Cyber Games champion. Next is JAMES LAO, a Microsoft developer, highly skilled in the field of
computers, and a business tycoon. He now runs the 30 branches of Tiongsan Nationwide and 2 branches
in China. Oh well, he’s good at handling businesses.

On the other hand, KARYL ABAD works as a manager at the Microsoft Company. She is one of the
founders of the latest social networking site. I was startled to know that CHLOE IRISH ESPINO created a
new computer software, the Espino Windows 2000. Espino Windows 2000 scored a significant success in
the computer world. It even swept out Microsoft Windows of Bill Gates. And she is also managing the
Robotic and Tracking Team, widely known for its ability to track down drug dealers and scammers on the
net. They have exceptional talents when it comes to computers.

I continue scrolling my Facebook and I couldn’t help but smile every time I see my best friend’s story on
my FB wall. It seems only like yesterday when we were just young and used to share special moments in
our Junior and Senior High School years. Her name is CARLYN KEWAN. We used to dream about her
being a flight attendant and me being a lawyer. Fortunately, the odds are in our favor. She sends photos
of whatever thing she’s doing in our group chat all the time whenever she’s out flying, which is a lot,
leaving us all to wish that we could travel as much as she does. Currently, she is at a layover in Greece
waiting as they prepare the plane to fly to Canada.

Then, I turned on the television. I don’t know why, but the first image that slapped my face was the
faces of the pilots. They were interviewed after saving the lives of their passengers after an emergency
landing in Washington, D.C. The names appeared on the screen, names I never expected to see. Captain
MARVIN TANDUYONG and Captain ROMMEL MARRERO JR. I am so proud of them while watching the
news. I scanned other channels and I was startled to see VINCE ECKMAN DONATO being featured in one
of the talk shows in the US. Dudes just introduced his innovation--- Zero- fuel aircraft. I am in awe!

After that report, I decided to go out and throw some cash and cheques.

On my way, there was heavy traffic because of an accident, as curious as I was, I decided to take a look,
at the accident, and I recognized SPO3 JIMSON BAUCAN, nurses- JOASH DANE and RAISHA RARANG,
reviving someone who met an accident. I am very proud because they were my schoolmates, trying to
save the life of that poor man.

Before going to my destination, I decided to full-load my tank at Hidalgo’s gasoline station, owned by an
automotive engineer VON HIDALGO. He also owns one of the biggest auto shops in North Luzon.

Then, I went to the biggest mall owned by the magnate and entrepreneur DUNN LOYD CHANAS. He also
owned Sendo, a clothesline store importing to different countries around the globe. Eventually, I passed
by the optical clinic Clear Vision. I’ve been thinking of wearing contact lenses for several months now
due to much toil and stress. Slowly, I pushed the glass door and approached the secretary. Minutes
after, she brought me to the ophthalmologist who was surprisingly Dra. CHEYENNE CAMUYOT. After my
consultation, we conversed for a few moments and my feet told me that other patients are waiting
outside. I bid adieu to her.

Since it was only 3:00 pm, I concluded it was too early to be home. I decided to stroll around the mall
and I bumped into someone, it was RANIEL LAGENIO. We talked for a while until I knew that he is now a
teacher in one of the best schools in Baguio. He also informed that REIGH CONRAD DE GUZMAN, is one
of the major stockholders of the Sendo clothing line.

I ask about our former classmates and immediately, Raniel, having met many of them, told me about
their success and their whereabouts.

The mall we are was designed and constructed by Gensler Company headed by Architect KARLOVY and
Engr. MARY ANN AUSTRIA. He was also given the chance to attend a conference where he came into
contact with doctors throughout the Philippines including some of our batchmates: Doctor RUSSEL
PILUDEN, the nation’s no. 1 orthopedics surgeon, and Doctor VINCENT BRAVO a renowned psychiatrist.

WENDELL CHAD BIALA, a lawyer in the profession, is elected as a judge in the International Criminal
Court.

I looked at my watch and I found that it was already 7:00 in the evening. So, I decided to look for a place
to dine. I found one – the Cucina de Aglosulos- managed by five-star chef SERAFIN AGLUSOLOS. The
restaurant serves Philippines delicacies. I enjoyed my stay there!

What a wonderful day I had!. Feeling worn out, I decided to go home. On my way home, I saw this very
long bridge. Yeah. It’s a bridge- a floating bridge that connects the Philippines to some parts of Asia so
everyone can travel by land. How was it made possible? Just ask architects JAM BIYAD and LANCE
BELEN who designed the structure and engineer MARIELLE CABRERA. The three-headed bridge’s multi-
billion dollar contract. But I haven’t seen and talked to them yet. I heard they’re going to connect the
moon and the earth via bridge again. With them, anything is possible.
Impossible as this story may seem but it’s indeed gratifying to somehow express and reminisce the
bonding and the unrelenting jokes that my colleagues, friends, best friends, closest friends, and
“frenemies” have shared. Most importantly would always remember the contagious laughs that are
multiplied similar to an infection to each classmate. The gags, tales, and the shaggy stories of how we
even started doing this comical scene are more likely a yarn of hope to remind us that life is not always
about silly expectations and dreams, but about real ambition and reality.

Our school had taught us everything in life. From the word behavior to the word responsibility. From
the word respect to the word honesty. And yeah. I admit that our batch was not the best in our dear
Alma Mater, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Montessori Inc. We felt we were the worst, we messed around, but
that was ultimately changed. Because OLMCM was the training ground that molded us into better
people. It’s the school that changed our once crooked sense of values and attitudes into positive and
worthwhile ones. It’s an institution where our character was developed in ease and quiet and a home
that taught us that through the experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision
cleared, ambition inspired and success achieved…

Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Montessori Inc. was once and forever will be, a part of our family.

Thank you for listening and God bless you all.
