CLASS PROPHECY 2018-2019

Edmarie C. Ambros

A loud applause of hands roared the cinema as the last scene faded and a slow music started. My name in bold capital
letters appeared, followed by the cast and the rest of my team. I stood up and turned around to face the rest of the people who
have watched. I had let out a smile to express my gratitude. After a couple of minutes of shaking hands and saying a lot of ‘thank
you’s, I went home to take a rest. As soon as I turned on the television, a familiar face showed up reporting about a woman who
leads a political organization that is now pretty famous because of its advocacies. The woman behind the news, KRISSIA EBEL
was also planning to run for the position of the president when the right time comes. And because of her dedication and
commitment to serve the country, she was supported by many. Just when the news ended, I took a glance at the tv and found out
that the newscaster was my former classmate BEVIELYN POSTRADO! The news was followed by an announcement of an
incoming Wushu competition to be held in the country. It reminded me of ASHER RIFANI who is now a professional mix
martial artist, so I thought I need to have a word with this man. I reached out for my phone on the table to give him a call and ask
his confirmation to be the stunt coordinator for the next movie I will work on. He willingly said yes but he cannot arrive at the
first meeting for he will be a guest at his rock star friend’s concert. It shocked me that the friend he was talking about is GRANT
CHALMAS, the guy who’s now having a world tour and currently he’s in Canada. Minutes passed and the call ended so I
focused again on the television. Foreign news from Indonesia was flashed and ORVEN ROY RAMOS, an agricultural engineer
from the country was being interviewed about the case of a plant that it was on the verge of its extinction. An hour of watching
passed and I figured out that I should be in bed.
The beaming rays of the radiant sun woke me up that morning and the sound of the birds was a sign of a new day ahead.
I stood up to do my morning rituals but a phone call interfered saying that I need to be in my office because a patient is in panic.
Right away, I did rush to my psychology firm and fixed the problem. I went to my office and entertained a patient, did some test
and gave advices for the next session. Suddenly, my secretary knocked informing me that a friend is outside so I went out to see
who it was. I saw IRA YVONE SARANILLO in her formal attire holding a suit case. I accompanied her to my office and we
started talking professionally. She is now a lawyer and handling a case of a person who is mentally disturbed, from that I
understood the reason of her visit. Our conferment lasted until 12pm so we had our lunch on my desk and also shifted our topic.
She mentioned that she is also now the lawyer of the three famous persons in the business world, ROSALIE PARI NAS, JEB
LAUS and RONIE MORTEGA. They were considered as three of the youngest successful business personage of the country,
although Ronie was said to have been migrated at America.
After a sumptuous lunch with Ira, I waited for some of my patients to come but then my secretary said they’ve cancelled
their sessions. With the spare time I had, I opened my social media accounts to check on my former friends in senior high school
only to find out that some of them are really in the brink of success. A picture of GLADY MYRE BACGALANG wearing her
lab gown with a Korean actor was all over my feed. She’s now a doctor based in Canada. Scrolling down, I saw also a picture of
PRINCESS LYLE BELLEZA with her husband smiling in front of a café. She took up Bread and Pastry in college and now a
baker at her own café! I was about to log out my account when a link caught my eye. The link contains the names of the students
who passed an electrical-related exams and the names of their assessors. I was in awe when I saw LEEJAN WATAWAT’s
name, he’s one of the electrical lead assessors! Just when I finished scanning names, I got a message from my team saying they
are ready for the first meeting of the upcoming film. I then gathered my things to go to the hotel where our meeting will take on.
As soon as I stepped out of the firm, I saw a police car patrolling around the area. I wave my hands to the police woman who just
got out the car followed by a man in his uniform too. It was MARY JANE PAPAY and GEORGE DUNGAN. I said my
greetings to them and we exchanged stories for a little while. It was just inevitable. They’ve mentioned that ZSA-ZSA CLAIRE
GUMNAD and CRISTINE PATAL are also police officers but based in Baguio. I smiled at the thought of them since their
dream indeed came true.
While in my car on the way to the hotel, I turned my radio on only to hear that the two soldiers were awarded by the
president himself considering their bravery and courage to take down a rebellious army and for protecting the indigenous tribes
at Kalinga. It was CEASAR PASAC JR. and JOHN RICK AGGARI of my batch! The news I’ve heard just made me really
proud and I’m very sure that all of us are. After a ten minute drive, I entered the two year old hotel made by engineers
REYMART MARTINEZ and JOHN REY EPI. Not only did they build hotels but they were also the ones who built my firm and
other famous buildings now standing in the city. Included also in their team were three electrical engineers namely, SHERIDAN
SMITH, SAZEN LIEGEN and JEFFERSON ROJO. I went directly to the seventh floor for our meeting when I bumped into
someone on the way to the elevator, it was ANGEL MARA HIPONA! We exchanged smiles and started a small talk as we
entered the elevator. She said that she just arrived at the country from Canada where she currently works in a family-owned
company. She plans to build a resort at Pangasinan with the partnership of one of our old classmates, REYJAY LABAN, a
licensed architect. Reyjay is also the architect of some famous buildings including the restaurant beside this hotel. I gave my
goodbye to Mara when I reached my destined floor. We started right away and I noticed the food they served us while in the
middle of the meeting. It was from the well-known restaurant beside the hotel owned by MAECCA RUBY DANIELLA
HERNANDEZ, a chef now on her own food establishment. Helping her is also a chef, KYLA CADAG whom had also recently
released her recipe book. I have been also at her fan meeting and I can say that she is a one great writer. It was past 3 when our
conference ended before we had our flight to South Korea.
Hours passed and I found myself comfortably seating in a business class seat together with my team. I was amazed
when JENNY ZARATE in her flight attendant uniform offered me a drink. Grinning widely, I accepted her offer and I nearly
choke when I saw one of my best friends, JULIE MAE MANLONGAT in a perfect posture of a flight attendant but in a
different uniform indicating she is in a higher position. She went to my seat and greeted me. I happily returned the favour just
then she noticed the man seating on the seat behind me, CHRISTIAN LANGGOYAN, one of the richest man in the Philippines
and also a prominent contractor. He is going to visit a charity event involving the education of some orphaned children which is
in contrary to the purpose of the other four man he is sitting with. They are MARK LOUIE CARCIDO, ADRIEL
CARBONELL, BOBBY ABAINZA and FELIS MARIANO MENESES, three of the professional electrical engineers of the
batch. We satisfyingly shared our own stories on our whole flight.
The cold breeze welcomed us as we stepped out of the airport. We bade our farewell to each other before riding our
vehicles. The team decided to visit first the ship yard where we will have our first shooting the following day. It shocked me
that Capt. IVAN GLAIR OIDE was there leaving a ship. I went near him to have a chit chat when I noticed two more gentleman
behind him. It was CHRIS JUN POMARCA and JOMEL RAMOS! They were sea farers on the ship Ivan was manoeuvring.
During our conversatiomn, I was informed that RICHMOND ROVILLOS is now a certified gold miner and was recently
deployed at South Africa. On our way to our desired hotel, my phone rang only to find out that one of my best friends
JONADEN MARZAN is the one calling. She is now the youngest CPA of the country and now works at the biggest company in
Asia. We were already in front of the hotel when our call ended. As I stepped out of the car, two ladies in an all-white uniform
caught my attention. They were laughing and about to enter the hotel when I joined them. They are DONNALEE GUHIC and
LEILA LONGCHASON! They also said that they are here for a voluntary help towards the South Korea Medical Team and
because two in this team are our former classmates, they agreed to help. MARLYN ENESA and CHRISTINE LABAN are the
only Filipinos who have passed and qualified to enter the said team. When I reached my room, a painting caught my eye so I
went near it and found out that the artist behind the stunning art was ANARIE JOY MILO. I immediately searched her name. I
eventually discovered she is now an eminent artist in Europe. I sent her a message quickly if I can feature some of her artwork in
my upcoming movie and she replied yes. That made my day complete!
After a hot bath, I cuddled with the soft comforter of the bed. I looked into the clock finding it is now 11:11 pm. I
stretched a smile on my lips thinking of the success of my batch mates. For once again, I reminisced the memories we all shared
before and still can’t believe that we are all now crowned with success. Seeing them all in their smiles and hearing their stories
made this day one of the most memorable ones.

Thanks G!

May all these prophecies come true. 
