A very good morning once again to everyone, and welcome to our Seminar on
Writing Publishable Research Paper.
I also would like to acknowledge all the participants for their significant
contribution on giving time on this seminar. From Master of Arts, Major in Educational
Management, English, Science, Early Childhood Education, Filipino, Mathematics,
Special Education. Master’s in Library and Information Science and Master of Arts in
Guidance & Counselling.
This 2-day seminar for today will surely give us a lot of learning about everything
we need to learn about research. I hope we will find the seminar to be fruitful and
engaging.
To formally start this program, we are pleased to have with us our very own Dean
of the Graduate School of Saint Columban College, Dr. Gilbert A. Celesio, for his
opening remarks. Let us give a hand of applause.

For the introduction of our Research Speaker for this 2-Day Seminar on Writing
Publishable Research Paper, he specializes in human learning and development in
schools. He is a certified specialist in educational psychology (CSEP) and in
developmental psychology (CSDP) by the Psychological Association of the Philippines
(PAP). He served as elected member of the Board of Directors of the Psychological
Association of the Philippines, and as Co-Chair of the Educational Psychology Division
of the PAP. His expertise has been fully acknowledged by the Psychological
Association of the Philippines having made him Chair of the PAP committee for the
search for outstanding publications of Filipino psychologists, and the PAP committee for
the search for outstanding thesis and dissertations in psychology. He has also been
requested to run national workshops organized by the organization in various learning
areas covering research, instrument development, statistics, and teaching; the most
recent of which was a workshop on Using Situation Sampling and Experience Sampling
Methods in Scale Development during the 56th Annual National Convention of the PAP
held in Davao City last September. Professional organizations in allied disciplines also
recognize his outstanding service. In February 2018, he was recipient of the National
Award for Outstanding Contribution to Counselor Education and Research, given by the
Philippine Association for Counselor Education, Research, and Supervision (PACERS),
for continuously providing the necessary competence to increase the efficacy in
research and promote evidence-based clinical practice among counseling and
psychology trainees. He has numerous Scopus, ISI, and international peer-reviewed
publications within the spectrum of research on leaning, motivation, emotions, social
connectedness, and wellbeing of students. He has also continued to help many
academic institutions in the Philippines in addressing the latter’s needs on outcomes-
based education, instructional innovations, authentic assessment, and research. He had
served as Chair of the Counseling and Educational Psychology Department, and
Program Coordinator of the Personal Effectiveness Program of DLSU. Currently he is
one of DLSU’s institutional experts for curriculum quality audit. He also teaches
doctorate courses on research, statistics, and human cognition and motivation in the
Doctorate programs of Educational Psychology, Educational Leadership and
Management, and Applied Linguistics. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome, Dr.
