Globalization

Globalization has a massive impact on various countries. It encourages interactions and

trades between the people, companies, and government, which may lead to countries helping
each other’s economies and helping in connecting cultures and politics. Made easy nowadays by
the open borders and modern technology, Globalization is an ever-present that can be traced to
have been there ever since ancient times and is nowadays fully integrated into our daily lives.
From our clothes and food to the TV channels and shows from other countries, and our electronic
gadgets, most of these are probably from multinational companies located across the globe.

Globalization has both positive and negative effects on the economy and one’s nation. While it
encourages the trade of products and goods between various countries. It also deprives the local
brands of customers. This disparity can be seen in the Philippines, as more consumers prefer to
buy internationally made goods than local ones.

In my personal opinion, while Globalization is good and can help improve our economy, the
citizens should also know to limit themselves from depending too much on international brands
and services. Especially since, we are a third-world country. Because while it can be said that
Globalization has opened numerous job opportunities, there have been instances where these
multinational companies overwork and underpay employees. There have also been cases of child
labor as less fortunate families take these numerous job opportunities despite it being severely
underpaid.

In addition, while Globalization has helped in connecting different cultures and spreading
cultural awareness. Cultures are also getting influenced by other cultures and forming cultural
homogeneity. Creating a mainstream monoculture as other diverse cultures are being forgotten
and driven underground.

However, it also has numerous benefits. Such as the spread of information and technology that
helps improve the lives of the people and their economy. Along with broadening the country’s
access to various goods and services not native to their country.

To summarize, Globalization has both benefits and downsides to a country. It helps some
countries prosper – helping their economies, improving their technology, and opening more
opportunities for them. However, it also encourages several disadvantages to poorer countries. It
should be moderated to not be entirely dependent on multinational companies and brands, and
help local brands and products in our country.
