Is globalization finished?

By Zia Rizandeen
What is Globalization?
● Globalization is the term used to characterize the rising interconnectedness of the world’s economies,
cultures, and inhabitants, brought about by cross-border commerce in products and services,
technology, and movements of investment, people, and information.
● Governments have developed economic relationships to assist these flows over many generations. Yet
the word acquired prominence after the Cold War in the early 1990s, when these cooperative
agreements impacted contemporary daily life.
● The wide-ranging repercussions of globalization are complicated and politically fraught. Along with
great technical developments, globalization helps society as a whole while damaging specific
individuals.
What are the advantages of Globalization?
●Access to the workforce: Globalization allows all countries access to a bigger labor pool.
Developing countries with a scarcity of knowledge workers can.

●Access to jobs: This aspect is closely connected to labor. With globalization, poorer countries
typically get access to employment in the form of labor that’s been outsourced by richer ones.

●The possibility for countries to "specialize": Global and regional cooperation enable states to
significantly lean into their economic strengths, knowing they can exchange goods for other
resources.
What are the disadvantages of
Globalization?
Greater Competition
1. When seen as a whole, global free trade is good for the whole system. Individual enterprises, organizations,
and people might be harmed, however, by global competition.
2. With this in mind, certain enterprises, sectors, and communities may elect governments to implement
protectionist policies aimed at cushioning native firms or workers from international competition.
Environmental Concerns
3. Increased globalization has been linked to various environmental challenges, many of which are serious,
such as deforestation and loss of biodiversity caused by economic specialization and infrastructure building.
4. Greenhouse gas emissions and other forms of pollution caused by increased transport of goods The
introduction of potentially invasive species into new environments.
Is Globalization finished?
● I am convinced that globalization is not nearing its end and may never do so. Globalization will
continue into the future as well.
● Twenty years from now, the product manufacturing process will be more efficient, competition in the
market will expand, development in every area will be obvious, and the quality and quantity of items
produced will also increase.
● Small industries and entrepreneurs will expand as more opportunities become available to them.
Without globalization, the world would be a closed environment.
● In a closed environment, we would not know what was going on in other nations. This also implies no
sharing of innovations and discoveries.
