1 – Change of spelling:

There are verbs that are changed in the form of past tense.

- Bring : brought
Ahmad writes a letter to his brother.
- Sit : sat
- Eat : ate Ahmad wrote a letter to his brother.
- Swim : swam

2 – Does not change:

There are verbs that will not change in the form of past tense.

- Put : put (does not become putted)


- Read : read (the pronunciation changed not the spelling)

3 – Adding d/ ed / ied at the end of verbs

Adding d : Example : Receive – received

Adding ed : Example : Kill – killed

Adding ied : For verbs that ends with y : Try – tried, Cry –cried.

4 – Usage of was and were (Past continuous tense)

After the usage of was/were, the verb must be added ing at the end of it.
