 INTRODUCTION

Library management system software is a software that can

be used by all libraries to track stored data as this software
helps in managing the data of the books in system. In day
today life, we find it difficult in searching book that we need
manually as it is a time consuming process. But this software
provides easy access to the data within a short period of
time.

The system helps both students and library manager to keep

a constant track of all the books available in the library. It
allows both the admin and the student to search for the
desired book.

It is easy for readers to find the book without wasting time in

searching the book by entering its book name or author
name or the necessary details it give us the information
about the book(shelf ,row number, position).

Due to computerized information ,it reduces the risk of paper

work such as file lost, file damaged and file corruption. It
mainly helps the user in managing time efficiently .It is used
by librarian to manage library records like addition of books,
finding books. Thus this system reduces manual work to a
great extent and allows smooth flow of library activities by
removing chances of errors in the details.

PURPOSE OF THE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM:

The purpose of a library management system is to operate a
library with efficiency and at reduced costs and to retrieve
desirable data at shorter period of time.

The purpose of a library management system is to provide

instant and accurate data regarding any type of book,
thereby saving a lot of time and effort.

ADVANTANGES:

 The system excludes the use of paper work by

managing all the book information electronically.

 Admin can keep updating the system by providing the

new books arrival in system and their availability thus
students need not to go to library for issuing purpose.

 The system has books well organized and systematically

arranged in different categories in the system so that
user can easily search and find the book.
 Thus, it saves human efforts and resources.
 Admin can delete books (book name) in the system
according to the availability of the book and update
accordingly .

EXISTING SYSTEM AND ITS DISADVANTANGES:

 It takes a lot of time to find the desirable book.

 Users find difficulty in finding the position of the book.

 Public library have operating hours, that is, If an

individual arrives too late ,he/she wont be able to access
the library’s resources.

 It is a time consuming process to keep track on the

system manually, updating frequently upon the books is
a difficult task when the availability of books is in large
number.
 OBJECTIVE

The objective of this project is to let the students gain

programming knowledge and apply them into real world
situation\problem.

DEVELOPING THIS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM INCLUDES,

 Writing programs utilizing modern software tools.

 Applying object oriented programming principles

effectively when developing small to medium sized
projects.

 Writing effective procedural code to solve small to

medium sized problems.

 Students will demonstrate ability to conduct a research

or applied Computer science ,as exemplified in the areas
of systems ,theory and software development.

 Students will demonstrate ability to conduct a research

or applied Computer science project, requiring writing
and presentation skills ,which exemplify scholarly style
in Computer science.
