1. Explain the following term.

Typeface vs Font
Typeface is a family of graphic characters that includes many types sizes and styles,
such as Times New Roman, Arial and Helvetica. Font is a collection of characters of
a single size and style belonging to a typeface family.

Postscript vs Truetype vs Opentype


Postscript is fonts consist of two parts, which are both necessary for the font to be
properly printed and displayed on screen. With most operating systems, PostScript
fonts can be installed simply by being placed in the system's font folder. Truetype is
was jointly developed by Apple and Microsoft. TrueType fonts contain both the screen
and printer font data in a single component, making the fonts easier to install.
Opentype is a joint effort from Adobe and Microsoft. Like TrueType, OpenType fonts
contain both the screen and printer font data in a single component. However, the
OpenType format has several exclusive capabilities including support for multiple
platforms and expanded character sets.

Serif vs San Serif


Serif is a decorative stroke that finishes off the end of a letters stem, sometimes also
called the “feet” of the letters. A serif font is a font that has serifs, while a sans serif is
a font that does not, hence the “sans”.

Anti-Aliasing
The process of removing or reducing the jagged distortions in curves and diagonal
lines so that the lines appear smooth or smoother.
Hypermedia
Hypermedia is a system in which various forms of information, as data, text, graphics,
video, and audio, are linked together by a hypertext program.

Hypertext
Hypertext is a system for linking related text documents to other elements that allows
the participation of multiple users, and usually searchable by software robots.
