1.1 Introduction

The Scarlet Letter of ‘’Nathaniel hawthonnes a masterpiece of the American

Fiction epitomizes The Sprite of New England life of The Seventeenth Century
milies through artful use of symbol .Hawthorne Beings The Scarlet Letter with a
long Introductory Essay that generally function as a preface but , more specifically
,accomplishes four .significant gocal out lines autobiographical information about
the author ,describes the conflict between the autistic impulse and the
commercial environment defines the Scarlet Letter .
1.2Background of the study

My aim is to explore the woman’s conduction of boston society. The story is

about a woman named Hester Prynne who had an affair with reveres
Dimmesdale.The story began with her departure from the prison .She wore The
Scarlet Letter A while carrying her baby daughter named pearl in her arms, Pearl
was born in prison.Then They Walked to the Scaffold in hall town, they were
watched by the people in town , she pushed to confess her partner in adultery
but she love the man. And than seven year gone. Hester Prynne struggles to
create a new life of repentance and dignity.

1.3 Objectives of the Study

The objectives of my study are as follow:

a.To analyze the structural element of the Scarlet letter novel.

b.To analyze the scarlet Letter novel based on an individual psychological

c.To show how the author related the incident of her life in this novel .

d.To show how the author brings out similarities between herself and her
creation of new life Hester Prynne

Descriptive methodology refers to the method that describes the characteristics
of the variables under study . In doing my term paper had analyze the simplistic
connections “ The Scarlet Letter “ and the woman’s life journey to adultery to

1.5 Scope of the Study

This study will help the student who want to research about the Scarlet Letter A
woman’s journey from adultery to angle of Nathaniel Hawthorne. Indian puritan
society woman’s an extreme from of patriarchy since beginning of know the
majority woman’s life .The paper again show how give us the story of life in a
particular society with the Author’s critical analysis of moral religious and social
values of the times.
1.7 Limitation of the Study

The researcher focused on analyzing Hester Prynne’s strategy of coping with the
exile punishment that is reflected in Nathaniel Hawthorne’s the scarlet Letter
novel.

While preparing this Report I have confronted some limitation which is as follows

2.1 Abstract

Element of contrast in Nathaniel Hawthorne’s “The scarlet Letter” is a work,

which indicates different aspects of the novel itself. in the first place. We analyzed
the type of novel to show that it is not just a Romance story but a historical one as
well. A side from this it has extra ordinary elements ‘that make it really interesting
and amazing . moreover each contrast Shows hoe skillful Hawthorne was with
every details. Another topic developed is the Different moral belief that existed
with in puritansism as well as Hawthorne’s own thoughts and ideas puritans had
different rules that made their town appear , to themselves ,unique and blessed.
their religion was linked to their polities and laws because they wanted to create
a life where they could avoid everything they did not like from the old world.
Additionally the entire story focused on the puritans treatment of female
including the change Hester undergoes during the novel , the puritans women
versus the modern women ,the way Hawthorne’s thought’s about woman and the
different conceptions of love and sex. According to puritans in contrest to those
or modern people . Perhaps the reason Nathaniel Hawthorne presented new idea
about woman was that he was surrounded by females: and he admired them in a
totally different way they were thought of before this time.
