1. Explanation for The Relationship Between Academic Integrity and Writing

Academic integrity forms the foundation of academic writing. It involves being committed and
having the ability to demonstrate high level of honesty and morality in academic work. It is a
very critical aspect of academic work where one is expected to respect and acknowledge other
scholars’ work. This mostly occurs during research and presentation of work where one is
expected to acknowledge the work done by others and to give credit for one’s scholarly
contributions (Bealle, 2017). Academic integrity and writing are closely related. The opinion that
the reader develops in most cases is influenced by the level of academic integrity exhibited y the
author during academic writing. According to Price (2014), one of the important virtues of
academic integrity is avoiding plagiarism. When one becomes creative by presenting own
original ideas, professional integrity is built. Academic integrity is therefore built on five pillars
of honesty, trust in others’ work, fairness, respect and responsibility (unl.edugradstudies).

2. The Relationship Between Professional Practices and Scholarly Ethics

Professional practices entail the behavior and conduct that guide the way a professional is
expected to carry themselves while on duty. On the other hand, scholarly ethics involves the
integrity both moral and academic expected of a professional during class work and research as
well as examinations. Professional practices and scholarly ethics are therefore closely related in
that a student with superb scholarly ethics is likely to develop into a good professional who
matures to have confidence and exhibit high level of creativity during the course of performance
of his duty. Scholarly ethics should therefore be developed early in the career path as it will
definitely inform the practices later within the career.

3. Use of Grammarly and Turnitin to improve responses

In academic writing, there are some writing tools that aid the writer to improve on the document
in terms of quality and to detect plagiarism in advance. Grammarly is software that detects errors
in the document which may include grammar, spelling, punctuations, and sentence structures
among others. Turnitin is very useful in helping the writer avoid plagiarism early by indicating
the similarity index between the writer’s work and other existing literature. These tools therefore
lead to better quality of the paper as well as improving on the overall integrity.

4. How Grammarly, Turnitin and Paraphrasing contribute to Academic Integrity

When academic sources are accurately paraphrased and cited, it helps the student to avoid
plagiarism. Copying texts directly from a source is not allowed. But when a student paraphrases,
it helps to incorporate ideas from other researchers without compromising on academic integrity.
Turnitin helps to ensure there is no plagiarism and Grammarly helps to ensure the document is
error free in terms of grammar, spelling, punctuations and sentence structures.

Part 2: Strategies for Maintaining Integrity of Work

These are the strategies that I intend to employ to maintain integrity as a student and in my
career.

Strategies for maintaining Integrity and Ethics in academic work

As a student, I intend to exhibit high level of academic integrity and to maintain superior ethical
standards. There are some strategies that I will strive to use to fulfill these goals. This will
include being serious with my academic work, preparing myself well and early for coursework
as well as examinations. I will constantly consult my lecturers in case of any difficulties in my
research. During my research, I will always avoid plagiarism. I will always acknowledge the
works of other researchers and do proper referencing while quoting them. My writing skills
should always be of high quality by doing paraphrasing and using Grammarly to improve on
grammar.

Strategies for maintaining Integrity and Ethics in professional work

Nursing as a career requires continued learning as a result of changes in the global environment
and emergence of new health challenges e.g. Covid-19 pandemic. I intend to always advance in
my nursing career frequently to keep abreast with the new challenges. I will also obey
professional code of conduct for nurses, perform my duties with high ethical standards and
integrity and follow any guidelines and policies meant to safeguard the integrity of the nursing
profession.

Resources and Approaches I Propose to Use as A Student and A Professional

During my studies and as a professional nurse, I plan to use varies resources to enhance my
professionalism. These include the library, laboratory for practical lessons, use of technology to
do research as well as past literature which will have to be correctly quoted and referenced. I also
intend to undergo constant training, attend relevant workshops and seminars and exhibit high
level of teamwork.
