Section 1

● Introduction

Academic Integrity is applying and putting the values of honesty, faithfulness and
determination while teaching anything to the student. It can be the act of taking the
responsibility of teaching and learning concepts to the students. It is majorly important for
the student, teacher and other staff to take responsibility and charge of everything that should
have adequately happened while maintaining faith and truthfulness in their work at any
educational institution. In this way, the academic part of the students will be shaped properly.
Students will be inclined to make progress in their work happily without any constraint and
any failure in their work in this way the student can learn the perspectives of any study
efficiently and more progressively (Bretag and T, 2018). Academic integrity can be better
demonstrated by following pointers, one may read the following pointers to understand
academic integrity in a better way:

● They are using the information appropriately while maintaining integrity and
superiority in delivering the information to the students while maintaining the rules
and the laws of copyright. The teacher, professor or the researcher should use it to
inculcate the information while maintaining credibility in their work. It will ensure the
delivery of the non-copyrighted information that can be obtained by the student.
● Give the credit of work to the people, or try best to acknowledge where the
information comes from, in this way one can ensure the claims o, thesis, orson. One
should use proper citation and reference of the work, be it from any website or any
thesis or any book. In this way, one can deliver the assignment or other research work
in a more purest and honest way.
● Try not to copy one’s work and present that work as that work is produced by own
efforts or the research. If in any case, one just tried to copy one information and
present that information as it belongs to someone, then that will be disrespectful of
research that has been done by any other person, and it will also contribute the highest
percentage of plagiarism in the content that one is presenting to any other person.
● Try to perform the research or the projects more ethically by following rules and the
regulations of each institution and the university to maintain the honesty and the
faithfulness of one’s work that one presents to others under any kind of research of
any subject (Solomon and M.A. 2018).

● Importance of academic integrity in higher education

Academic integrity is important in higher education in universities because of following

appealing reasons:

Academic integrity however is the fundamental requirement to do teaching, researching or

learning and acquiring any knowledge in any university. Without this, learning, teaching and
researching will have no sense and meaning. All these processes will have no sense of
responsibility and faithfulness. We can say that without Research integrity, all academic
works will become merely useless. It gives no sense to the research as well. Research that
does not contain academic integrity can be termed doubtful research (Peters and M.A., 2019).

Academic integrity can be essential to avoid plagiarism and cheating and the upcycling and
recycling of work that does not belong to the person. Academic integrity can maintain respect
and honesty while proceeding with any research work. It can also avoid providing similar
work for different classes (Studymoose, 2016).

Academic integrity maintains the trust of the professors and the teachers; while doing any
kind of research for their work, it can save the efforts of the person to get the or teaching
anything reward. It supports the idea to motivate people while they are learning, researching,
or teaching anything.

Academic integrity can also assist another vital process of life. For example, it can also
enhance integrity in other spheres of one’s life. Academic integrity can help a person stay
away from cheating or copying in different spheres of life. It can bring a sense of
responsibility to one's life. By academic integrity, the person will remain in different spheres
of life, and he/she can lead healthier and honest living in further life. Academic integrity can
make a person a truly motivated and honest person in their life (Stoesz et al., 2019).

In this way, the person can also develop a sense of personal integrity through the help of
academic integrity in higher studies. The person who tries to maintain academic integrity will
also excel in all the other spheres of their life. If one implies academic integrity in their life,
then the person can be saved from getting tortured by the ethical dilemma of being dishonest.
Academic integrity can help maintain a healthier life and maintain the priority of ethics in
life. Moreover, I can say that people will learn to be ethical if they follow academic integrity
pretty seriously.

Academic integrity will also motivate the person to generate new educational ideas. It will
create a sense of creativity in the students and the researchers. Whenever anybody researches
anything for the research, they might get a sense of the creativity from the research. He /she
might generate new ideas from academic integrity. It provides the foundation of education for
any level of education (Gallant and T, 2017).

Discuss the implications of academic misconduct

There are numerous implications of Academic misconduct that can impact the student's
academic work. A few of the implications of academic misconduct are listed as follows:

● Penalties to the students: If the researcher, teacher, or student shows academic

dishonesty in any of the research, then the most obvious consequences are the
offences and the penalties on the researchers or the students. The penalties can be
severe or non-severe, those penalties just depend on the degrees of academic
dishonesty in the research work.
● Social Implications: If the person follows academic dishonesty in their works, then
he or she might get subjected to the tag of dishonesty in society. The person might opt
for dishonesty in the behaviour and it can ruin his/ her relation with others. The
person might cheat in other spheres of life. It may also cause the element of cheating
in social behaviour. It can become harmful to the whole social attitude of the person.
● Affect The intellectual Properties of the content: The activities like plagiarism,
stealing one's own content or not giving the credit to the person to which that content
will lead major loss of intellectual properties in the content. The owner may also have
to bear monetary and creditable rights on any content that is delivered by himself.
● Practical Implications of Academic dishonesty: If the person or any student
practises academic dishonesty in his research work. Then there might be the
possibility of practical failure in the particular sphere of the research. For instance, if a
person copied the research work in the medical and technical field, then it might
happen that the person might fail to fulfil the duties in his field.
● Affects the Self Esteem of a person: If a student practises academic dishonesty, then
he / she might experience guilt in the coming future. He/ she might feel happiest and
honest forever in life. And because of academic dishonesty, he/she might feel
disgraceful in the coming future (Bannert et al., 2018). That may also affect the self-
esteem of the person.

Reflection:

Choosing the concept to form a game:

I created a list of concepts on which I can create a game and picked the concept for
forming a game. I started with the small concept as that was my first time designing a
game. I explore various genres and subgenres, as well as what is now (or was
previously) popular in the media, and then jot down any video game ideas that spring
to mind. Consider the probable features or mechanics of the games on your list once
you've completed my initial brainstorming in the whole process.

After choosing the topic I just tried to gather the information about the game, whether
my genre is small but even that, I worked pretty hard and gathered the information
that is quite relevant to my topic of gaming. I just started to gather the information by
researching the newest trends of gaming and the factors that can affect my game
pretty intensively. I started to write down the Game design for my game. I started to
note down the targeted audience for my game and I just started up with determining
the market size for my game. To design the game, I just started to note down the
language that I need to design a game.

After gathering the information, I just started to build up the game as per the
audience, the market size and the language. I just started to work on the concepts by
which I can enhance the outlook of my game. I started working on the codes and
mechanical interferences of my game. I started scripting the coding for my game.

After scripting and including numerous mechanical interferences in my game, I just

started to refine my game as per the requirement of the market and the audience. I
start creating the prototypes for my game and started to put my focus on the game.
The problems that I faced while producing my games are as follows:

I faced a major problem when I was choosing the concept. I just felt pretty much
fascinated about numerous topics for my game, but after intensive research,I decided
to produce my game on a small topic.

The next problem that I felt was the scripting and choosing the language for my game.
That I am going to inculcate in my coding.

● Skills learned this academic year and those emphasised in producing this game

Well, to be more precise, I have learnt many things this academic year to produce my own
game for the assignment. The skills have been listed as the following ones.

IT and technical skills: To produce any game, IT skills are primarily important. Strong IT
skills will intensely help anybody to form an excellent game. In this academic year, I have
come across numerous skills like graphic design, interface designing, programming and
animation. I have learnt to form realistic characters through a proper and professional
approach. I have also learnt about motion graphics. All of the above,I also learnt the
integration of numerous technical processes that are important for producing any game. Well,
learning the programming part of the language, I felt very irritative at the initial stage. But as
the time passes, I become pretty particular about numerous languages about the scripting of
the language for the games.

In other words, I can say that I became an expert in the world of game development and I
learnt how to accomplish the dream of developing and owning a game. A few years back, I
liked to play games and kept on enjoying that, but this academic year I am designing the
games for myself that are ready to be sold in the market.

Besides the technical thing, I have also learnt numerous other values that I can inculcate in
my behaviour. Most importantly, I have learnt the skill of problem-solving attitude. I have
put that attitude in solving the technical glitches while developing the game. That attitude
also helped in my personal life. Through that attitude, I have also learnt to deal with the
difficulties in my life. Along with this, I have also learnt the time management skills that
also inculcate those behaviours in my behaviour. Those skills also helped me to deal with the
problems in my life. On average, I have enjoyed the great learning experience this academic
year.
