Profession is a field of work based on certain expertise.

Professions have
characteristics and characteristics that are not found in other types of work (non-
profession).
Etymologically, the term profession comes from the English word
"profession". Where the word also comes from the Latin "prophesus" which means
capable or expert in a form of work.
Meanwhile, in terms of terminology, the definition of profession is a job that
requires higher education for the perpetrators. So, what is meant by profession is a
position that demands a certain expertise, skill, or knowledge.
According to the Big Indonesian Dictionary (KBBI), the meaning of profession
is a field of work pursued through vocational education, such as vocational or certain
skills.
A profession must have 3 main pillars, namely:
1. Expertise
2. Knowledge
3. Academic preparation.

community, either through real professionalism (level of quality) or through legal
support.
That is, a job called a profession cannot be held by just anyone. If concluded,
the meaning of the profession is a special intelligence that a person has, which is
obtained through education, because he feels called to hold a certain job.
Teacher is a profession. Where in carrying out his work, a true teacher must
be prepared through certain education. This is commonly referred to as the presence
of scientific characteristics.
the relationship between students and the profession: when students want to
achieve the profession they dream of they need basic skills from what they learned
when they were students, they cannot call themselves having that profession if they
do not meet the criteria obtained from studying while being students, when they
succeed meet those criteria then they can proudly call themselves that they become
those profession.
 Profesi adalah salah satu bidang dari pekerjaan yang didasari dengan
keahlian tertentu. Profesi memiliki sifat dan karakteristik yang tidak terdapat pada
jenis pekerjaan lainnya (bukan profesi).
Secara etimologi, istilah profesi berasal dari bahasa Inggris yakni "profession".
Di mana kata itu juga berasal dari bahasa Latin "profesus" artinya mampu atau ahli
dalam suatu bentuk pekerjaan.
Sementara, secara terminologi, pengertian profesi merupakan suatu
pekerjaan yang mempersyaratkan pendidikan tinggi bagi para pelakunya. Jadi, apa
yang dimaksud profesi yaitu jabatan yang menuntut suatu keahlian, keterampilan,
maupun keilmuan tertentu.
Menurut Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia (KBBI), arti profesi adalah bidang
pekerjaan yang ditempuh melalui pendidikan keahlian, seperti kejuruan atau
keterampilan tertentu.
Suatu profesi harus memiliki 3 pilar pokok yaitu:
1. Keahlian
2. Pengetahuan
3. Persiapan akademik.

Pasalnya, seorang dengan profesi tertentu akan menggunakan suatu metode ilmiah
atau teori untuk bisa memecahkan suatu masalah dalam pekerjaannya.
Dalam melakukan tanggung jawab dan tugasnya, profesi memiliki kode etik
dan juga dikontrol oleh organisasi profesi melalui majelis etik profesi. Jabatan atau
pekerjaan profesi perlu mendapat pengakuan dari masyarakat, baik itu melalui
profesionalitas (tingkat kualitas) yang secara nyata atau melalui dukungan aspek
legal.
Artinya, pekerjaan yang disebut profesi tidak bisa dipegang oleh sembarang
orang. Jika disimpulkan, arti profesi adalah suatu kepandaian khusus miliki
seseorang, yang didapatkan melalui pendidikan, karena dia merasa terpanggil untuk
menjabat suatu pekerjaan tertentu.
Guru merupakan profesi. Di mana dalam memangku pekerjaannya, sejatinya
seorang guru harus dipersiapkan melalui pendidikan tertentu. Hal ini biasa disebut
dengan adanya ciri keilmuan.
 hubungan antara mahasiswa dan profesi : ketika mahasiswa ingin mencapai
profesi yang diimpikan mereka perlu kemampuan dasar dari yang mereka pelajari
ketika menjadi mahasiswa, mereka tidak bisa menyebut diri mereka sendiri memiliki
profesi itu jika tidak memenuhi kriteria yang didapatkan dari belajar selama menjadi
mahasiswa, ketika mereka berhasil memenuhi kriteria itu maka mereka bisa dengan
bangga menyebut diri mereka sendiri telah menjadi profesi itu.
