Purpose :

Maintain Timken as a company that provides high quality products and services in the eyes of our customers
and shareholders. Provide leadership to establish and maintain a standardized quality system in all India
manufacturing locations and repair centers. Protect the Timken brand name through sound decisions /
recommendations (e.g., contain or quarantine product, recall product from the field, demand 3rd party
inspection, identify when and if customers be notified, determine when and if necessary to shutdown our
manufacturing line) when quality problems occur.

Essential Responsibilities:

• With dotted line responsibility for India bearing and MPT facilities in the region, drive plant quality
metrics which improve customer satisfaction, protect the brand name and improve plant efficiency
(e.g. minimize customer complaints, 8D response in less than 30 days, eliminate repeat complaints,
eliminate high profile events, install TQMS, reduce cost of quality, and drive the use of process
capability to improve overall plant efficiency).

• Lead the development and maintenance of quality systems in order to maintain second or third
party certification of all applicable plants (AS9100, IATF16949, M1003, IRIS, etc) including products
and services.
• Manage the maintenance and control of product quality audits to assure conformance to
specification of outgoing product. Develop and drive TQMS (Timken Quality Management System)
into our facilities, working directly with plant Managers and Quality Managers. Provide facilitation
and coordination to address customer quality problems by directing manufacturing, SQD, Sales,
Supply Chain, Metallurgical Quality, etc., regarding the appropriate steps to resolve the issue. Drive
the use of the GQTS (Global Quality Tracking System) though the organization (Sales, Engineering,
Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Suppliers, etc) to improve overall responsiveness to customers and
the thoroughness of the response.
• Provide direct interface to customer when major quality events occur or when customers demand
to see a Quality leader.
• Work closely with Warranty and Problem Resolution leadership to identify possible exposure to
Timken, both from a warranty and/or liability standpoint. Ultimate accountability for the
assessment, qualification, and maintaining of a qualified supply base.
• Joint responsibility with SQD and Metallurgical Quality. Responsible for the training and
development of plant quality managers.

Technical and Functional Skills :

• Excellent knowledge and understanding of engineering systems


• Mfg equipment, capabilities and processes within the plant
• Management experience in lean manufacturing + 6 Sigma – Black Belt Certification
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong systemic thinking ability and problem-solving skills
• Strong understanding of supplier quality requirements across Mobile, Process and Rail Industries
• Leadership skills in directing and guiding plant quality managers

Minimum Qualifications :

Bachelor's Degree in engineering/Quality/Business with 10-12 years of experience

Master's Degree in engineering/Quality/Business with 8- 12 years of experience


Certifications Preferred :

• Six Sigma Proglem Solving Black


• TQMS Systems Knowledge
• CQE/CQM OE
