MUX

The multiplexer is a combinational logic circuit also known as a data selector and is a device
that selects between several analog or digital signals and forwards the input-selected signal to
output. The selection of the input signal is done by another digital input which is known as
select lines. A multiplexer of 2n input has n select lines. These select lines use to select which
input line to send to the output.

Different types of multiplexing technologies are as below:

1)Wavelength Division Multiplexing(WDM).
2)Frequency Division Multiplexing(FDM).
3)Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing(DWDM).
4)Inverse Multiplexing (IMUX).
5)Add/Drop Multiplexing(ADM).

The multiplexer acts as a multiple-input and signal-output switch. A 4-to-1 multiplexer

contains four input signals and a 2-to-1 multiplexer has two input signals and both of them
have one output signal.
The multiplexer is used in:
1)Communication System.
2)Computer Memory.
3)Telephone Network.
