Sol 1. (b) Let the present age of the son
be x years and that of the father is y
years. According to question, 7/2 (x -
10) = y - 10 ; from here we get the
equation , 7x - 2y = 50 ____________ I
Again, 9/4 (x + 10) = y + 10 ; here the
equation will be as follows :
9x - 4y = -50 ___________II
On solving equations I and II , we get x
= 30 years = Age of Son ; and
Y = 80 years = Age of Father
Sum of present age of Father and Son =
80 + 30 = 110 years.
Sol 2. (c) Let the age of Mitali = 4k and
the age of Shabnam = 7k.
According to the question
7k-(4k+5) = 13
3k-5 = 13 ⇒ k = 6.
