 What is inclusive education?

Inclusive education is when all students, regardless of any challenges they may have, are
placed in age-appropriate general education classes that are in their own neighborhood schools to
receive high-quality instruction, interventions, and supports that enable them to meet success in
the core curriculum (Bui, Quirk, Almazan, & Valenti, 2010; Alquraini & Gut, 2012).
Successful inclusive education happens primarily through accepting, understanding, and
attending to student differences and diversity, which can include physical, cognitive, academic,
social, and emotional. This is not to say that students never need to spend time out of regular
education classes, because sometimes they do for a very particular purpose — for instance, for
speech or occupational therapy. But the goal is this should be the exception.
To make inclusive education a reality we need to do the following: ensure that educators
have the training, flexibility, and resources to teach students with diverse needs and learning
styles. ensure that kindergartens and schools receive adequate and sustainable financial support
so that all activities and services are fully inclusive.

 What is special education?

Special education refers to a range of services that can be provided in different ways and in
different settings. There’s no “one size fits all” approach to special education. It’s tailored to
meet the needs of students with disabilities.
The school and classroom operate on the premise that students with disabilities are as
fundamentally competent as students without disabilities. Therefore, all students can be full
participants in their classrooms and in the local school community
Special education encompasses the programs which serve students with mental, physical,
emotional, and behavioral disabilities. The major law governing special education is the federal
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, which guarantees a “free appropriate public
education” to children with disabilities and mandates that, to the “maximum extent appropriate,”
they be educated with their nondisabled peers in the “least restrictive environment.”

 What is their difference?

The difference between the inclusive and the special education is that the
special education is centered on objectives related to education in conditions of
normal children while, special education are the students for who have special needs.
Inclusive education teacher collaborates with a general education teacher to
provide services for students. While the, Special education allows children with
special needs to receive a free and appropriate education along with non-disabled
students in the regular classroom.
 As a future educator why is it important to study the foundations of special and
inclusive education?

As a future educator it is important to study the foundations of this specific

education because this can provide a better quality education for our future students,
especially about the inclusive education, we can change the way children see other
children with disabilities and can create an environment free from discriminations or can
lessen discriminations, and to develop students to interact with each other, to show
respect, learn from one another and to uplift the confidence that the special deserves.
When I opted to pursue secondary school, I knew I needed to supplement my
degree with something else. I wanted to do something that would broaden my
experiences and help me grow as a future teacher.
Special and Inclusive Education is very important in Educational matters because
it offers persons with disabilities to have an opportunity to get educated. With this kind of
teaching, most of the person who needs special assistances will be in a flexible learning
environment for acquiring quality education that evolves and optimizes their potential for
further development.
As I grew more immersed in my studies, I began to have a better understanding of
myself as a prospective teacher and the qualities of my potential pupils. I discovered in
my past education studies that different schools had different types of students. There are
toddlers, teens, and young adults who learn in ways that I and my friends do not. I
resolved to find a means to pursue my education after I understood these big distinctions.

I am currently enrolled in the College of Education at Nueva Vizcaya State

University-Bambang campus. Through the disciplines and knowledge, this program will
thoroughly immerse me in scenarios affecting special education children and teenagers.
I'm excited to finally start learning about students who need my help as a prospective
secondary school teacher.

 Select a picture that best explains special and inclusive education and explains it.

The image shows a figures of different types of person forming a circular pattern. The
circular pattern or the round shape of the figures can simply represent the world or the earth. In
addition, the circle shape can also represent the connection or the partnership of a person to a
person across the world.

The image also predicts about differences in our school or classroom. It is a deeper
meaning represented as a set up in a special and inclusive education, no one is below, no one is
left behind, all students are equally receiving a quality education, no biases, judgement, but have
an exemption of course to the activities that other disabled students cannot perform.

The color represents the joy, the unity and the equality that being applied in schools, it is
a great place to start and to build up the moral and values of students, that they will apply in our
community, if these young minds mold into this kind of set up, they can be better outside the
school, they will learn to respect, appreciate, give, understand, help and most specially to set
aside their doubts, because if the PWD’s/ SPED can do it what can be more achieved if your
blessed with a whole body parts, senses, and mind.

The character in the pictures is the different symbolization of diverse but united people,
and interprets that we can do better if done together, many is stronger alone, and believing to one
another’s capability is a path to a better educational system.

Hence, this gives us the message, to be positive in life, to help one another aside from
competing, we know that we have different views, attitude and character but we must understand
each other to avoid hate and only to give love, remember everyone is facing different battles, be
nice.
