Reflection: inclusive Education in the Philippines

Teachers viewed as the second parent of the students, and like parents, whatever
disabilities or appearances their children would have they still show love and
support. After watching the video, I have come up with various implications as for
me, a future teacher.
As a future educator, no one in my class should be left behind, regardless of their
disabilities for they go to school to learn and enhance their knowledge and never
to focus on their appearances. Another factor that I should consider is that no
matter their culture and status in life is either rich or poor, Cuyunon or Illonggo, I
shall take responsibility with all their needs and growth. Having fairness and
commitment to cater the needs of every individual under my class would have a
huge impact in their maturity and learning. A teacher is someone who never base
their attitude with the way others walk or talk as well as how they dress or speak.
It should never be the calculation to approach anybody according to those things
but it must be natural for them to communicate to everyone either students,
parents, colleagues or co-workers with respect and humility. I realized from the
video that education is the foundation of learning and teacher is the
ambassadors.
Moreover, Inclusive Education does not always centered to students needing
special care and treatment, but it also be the inclusivity of education to the
society. Society has a great factor in school, colleges, or universities. Whenever
there is crisis, calamities or any environmental problems, the school is also
affected. Therefore, society especially the Department of Health, must interact
and cooperate with education sector because this is where an individual is being
mold and learn in order to contribute more to the society as soon as they get
their degree. Due to the effect of the Pandemic, we are now under the blended
learning state where there are two ways a student can learn. As a future teacher,
this is very touching knowing that there is cooperation between school and the
society—in the midst of the crisis, they did not end educating individual, rather
they made a wise strategy. I realized, I should also be like this, I should be
resourceful, strategic, and humbly wise to better do my duties as a teacher in the
near future.
Furthermore, in order to fulfill these things the Department of Education will be
needing a fund to uphold triumph of this program. Therefore, I can say that as a
future teacher, I should not only focus to my students alone but to their needs
and environments for that could contribute regarding their improvement to
become a more effective individual in their community. As a future teacher in the
Philippines, I may be having dilemmas in catering my students want. Thus,
consulting higher departments or institutions in regards to inclusion program to
better guide me in accomplishing my duties and obligations.
At last, I am priveleged to observe the visual discusion hosted by Leonor Brioner,
former secretary of Education and Dr. Shahbaz Khan, Director and Representative
of UNESCO Jakarta Office. This is crucial for today's situation and I am
endeavoring to uphold these new learnings as I go nearly to my goals.
