CHAPTER V

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS, CONCLUSION, AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Summary of Findings

1. Demographic Profile of the Respondents

In the total of 101 respondents that participated in this study, 42.6% are males

and 57.4% are females. In terms of age, 29.7% are 24 to 29 years old, 31.7% are

30 to 35 years old, and 38.6% are 36 years old and above. Lastly, regarding their

occupancy status in Icon Residences Condominium Corporation, 20.8% are Unit

Owners, while 79.2% are Tenants.

2. Respondents’ Assessment on the Effectiveness of Knowledge

Management in the Safety-Critical Facilities in Icon Residences

Condominium Corporation

Findings reveal that the respondents are just somewhat agree in average with

regards to the effectiveness of Knowledge Management of the Icon Residences

Condominium Corporation in terms of Fire drill (OWM=2.57, VI=Somewhat

Agree).

Meanwhile, the results convey that the respondents are mostly agree the siren in

the said residences is loud enough to be heard by all the earthquake drill

participants in the building (WM=3.71, VI=Agree). In average, the respondents

agree that the Knowledge Management of the Icon Residences Condominium

Corporation is effective in terms of earthquake drill (OWM=3.51, VI=Agree).

Next, respondents mostly agree that the property management is clear and

concise on details in disseminating circular memos (WM=3.64, VI=Agree). In


average, the effectiveness of the Knowledge Management of the Icon

Residences Condominium Corporation in terms of Circulating Memorandum is

agreeable for the respondents in general (OWM=3.58, VI=Agree).

When it comes to Safety Protocol, respondents agree the most that they were

advised by the property management about the emergency hotlines (e.g., fire

station, hospital, police station, etc.) (WM=3.92, VI=Agree). Generally, the

effectiveness of the Knowledge Management of the Icon Residences

Condominium Corporation in terms of Safety Protocol is agreeable for the

respondents in average (OWM=3.70, VI=Agree).

Lastly, for the Preventive Maintenance aspect, the respondents agree the most

that the property management conducts regular cleaning of buildings, grounds

and assets (WM=3.61, VI=Agree). On the other hand, in general, the

effectiveness of the Knowledge Management of the Icon Residences

Condominium Corporation in terms of Preventive Maintenance is just somewhat

agreeable for the respondents in average (OWM=3.70, VI=Agree).

3. Factors Affecting the Knowledge Management of Critical Facilities

As revealed by the findings, respondents admit in average that Performance

(OWM=3.99, VI=Agree), Practices (OWM=3.69, VI=Agree), Planning

(OWM=3.56, VI=Agree), and Proactiveness (OWM=3.85, VI=Agree) are the

factors they perceived present in the management that reflects the property

management’s Knowledge Management of the critical facilities in Icon

Residences Condominium Corporation. However, respondents only somewhat

agree in average that Communication factor is apparently observed by the


property management as for the Knowledge Management of critical facilities in

the said residence (OWM=3.42, VI=Somewhat Agree) as they only somewhat

perceived that the property management is involved and responsive to queries

regarding residents’ concerns, utilizing intranet messages to securely distribute

the information regarding safety and security measures to staff, and was able to

effectively executes in-person and virtual townhall meetings for their residents.

4. Relationship between the Factors Affecting the Knowledge Management of

Critical Facilities and the Effectiveness of the Knowledge Management in

the Safety-Critical Facilities of Icon Residences Condominium Corporation

Testing the relationship of the factors measured affecting the Knowledge

Management to the effectiveness of the Knowledge Management in the Safety-

Critical Facilities of Icon Residences Condominium Corporation, using Spearman

Rank-Order Correlation Coefficient (Spearman Rho), it was found that Practices,

Planning, Pro-activeness, and Communication factor of the management has

weak to strong significant relationship with the effectiveness of the Knowledge

Management being implemented in terms of Earthquake drill, Circular

Memorandum, Safety Protocol, and Preventive Maintenance by the property

management assessed by the respondents, while Performance factor is

significantly influential to the Knowledge Management implemented in terms of

Circular Memorandum, Safety Protocol, and Preventive Maintenance only. On

the other hand, none of the five factors is found significantly correlated with the

effectiveness of the Fire drill perceived by the respondents.


Conclusion
1. The sample used in this study is predominantly women than men; in terms of

age, the largest portion of the sample age 36 years old and above, the next

greater portion is 30 to 35 years old and the smaller portion is 24 to 29 years old.

And lastly, majority of the samples are tenants and the few are unit owners.

2. The effectiveness of Knowledge Management of Icon Residences Condominium

Corporation for their Safety-Critical Facilities in terms of Earthquake Drill, Circular

Memorandum, Safety Protocol, and Preventive Maintenance is agreeable for the

respondents, while in terms of Fire Drill, its effectiveness is just somewhat

agreeable as perceived by the respondents.

3. Factors such as Performance, Practices, Planning, and Pro-activeness observed

by the property management contribute to the effective implementation of

Knowledge Management for safety-critical facilities in Icon Residences

Condominium Corporation as perceived by the respondents, while the

Communication as a contributor factor to the Knowledge Management for safety-

critical facilities in the building is just somewhat agreeable for the respondents

based on what they perceived in the management.

4. The Performance factor of the management significantly influences their

Knowledge Management for safety-critical facilities in the building in terms of

Circular Memorandum, Safety Protocol, and Preventive Maintenance; while

Practices, Planning, Pro-activeness and Communication factors observed by the

management are significantly influential to their Knowledge Management in

terms of Earthquake Drill, Circular Memorandum, Safety Protocol, and


Preventive Maintenance implementations. On the other hand, none of the five

mentioned factors are significantly correlated with the Knowledge Management in

terms of Fire drill which indicates that there might be other factors that possibly

more influential to their Fire drill implementation for safety-critical facilities in the

building.
